My Father, the King of all Vampires and of the Central Realm, had just arrived.

His entourage took an entire half hour to come in from outside, with my Father leading them and then standing there with me as we watched the procession.

It was ridiculous really, but he was one of the remaining few that still hadn't modernized even his own habits.

I was ready to be away from him and hide in my office even if it were just for a few minutes. "I will see you at dinner Father."

He eyed me a moment before nodding his head. "Very well then."

Finally he released me from the monotonous task of greeting him and his entourage.

I was in my office in under a minute, expecting to get a few minutes alone but that wasn't happening, especially when Blaine walked in. I knew immediately something was wrong from his expression.

I tensed, "Blaine."

He sighed heavily and remained standing in front of my desk. "Kenzie would like to speak to you. Something.... is wrong."

I squinted my eyes, feeling curious yet worried. "What is it?"

"I was called to her room after her maid told the guard on duty that she had locked herself in the bathroom and hadn't come out in over an hour and wouldn't answer. She came out after I knocked and immediately she announces that she wants to see you and then..." he paused strangely and an array of emotions flitted across his face.

"And then what Blaine?" I asked annoyed at his pause.

"I swear Mitchell, it sounded like she spoke directly inside my head. When I heard her voice in my head her lips did not even move," he said as he pointed to his head.

I gave him an 'are you serious' look. "What are you trying to say, exactly?"

"That she has telepathy," he finished. His eyes were still enlarged from the adrenalin and his breath still hadn't calmed.

"That's impossible. Only a few of the Royal Asperians have ever been known to have that ability and they were all murdered," I paused suddenly. It just wasn't possible. My father had them all assassinated. Not to mention she was a half breed. But wasn't that why my father had them..... "Have Doc come in.... quickly."

It took Doc just five minutes to arrive, entering the side door to my office.

I stood up and shook his hand, "Thank you for coming by on such short notice," I waved for him to sit while Blaine remained standing just off to the side.
