Chapter Thirty Three

Mitchell's POV

I returned to her room and watched her sleep all night. She was so beautiful. I couldn't bring myself to disturb and wake her so I could be with her. So, I sat in a chair, watching her sleep peacefully the rest of the night.

I ached to run my fingers through her long hair, to kiss her soft, pink lips and to touch her silky skin. I didn't think I would ever feel like this again and if I were honest with myself I didn't think I had ever felt this deeply. I loved Azereen's mother, but I don't think I loved her as deeply as I love Kenzie.

Our strange sun rose, lighting up Kenzie's room with it's soft caressing glow. Her personal maid entered quietly, as to not wake up Kenzie. She didn't see me right away but when she was half way in the room she gasped with surprise. I put an index finger to my lips so she would be quiet. She nodded obediently and left the room.

It wasn't long after that I heard Azereen moving about her room. Kenzie stirred in her sleep but didn't wake for another ten minutes. When she did, she stretched her arms above her head and yawned. She ran a hand through her bed head and I couldn't help myself from laughing.

She jumped at the intrusive sound and gawked at me incredulously. "How long have you been sitting there?" she asked with attitude while pointing a finger at me accusingly.

I laughed before answering her, "Just a little while."

She narrowed her eyes, not believing me. I moved to sit next to her on the bed. "Your beautiful regardless of your erratic bed head." I teased.

Now that the spell that kept her human was wearing off, her cheeks didn't shade as they had when we first met. I would miss that but hopefully I would never have to miss her.

I turned serious for a moment and she quickly noticed. "I want to apologize for leaving you last night and then having to deal with Bree." I shook my head while taking a breath before continuing. "She should have never come to my room."

Kenzie moved to climb out of her bed but I took her hand. She pinned me with a serious glare. "Does she make a habit of arriving at your door dressed like a charlatan?"

I heard the bite of anger laced in her tone and I couldn't help but cringe inside."I assure you, she has never before come to my room."

I could see her relax at my words but also could see the skepticism in her eyes. I tucked a strand of her hair behind an ear, moved a finger along her cheek and then splayed her lips with my thumb. I kissed her but she remained timid and pulled back.

I understood but wish I could have all of her right now. Then I remembered what I needed to do and what she needed to do. She noticed the change in my demeanor and squinted her eyes at me.

"What's wrong? Are you mad because-"

I interrupted her, "No... No, I'm not mad, it's just ... My Father wants to see you."

Immediately, fear flashed across her face and I grabbed her hands. "You'll be ok. That's why I'm here right now, so I can tell you what you need to know about the Asperians."

She took a steadying breath and readied herself. "I've been reading up on the Vampire history... when I can, but not much on the Asperians."

"That's because about twenty years ago anything pertaining to the Asperians were pulled and basically outlawed."

I saw her confusion, "Why?"

"Because of my Father. He went to war with the Asperians, well, almost went to war. But after the asassination of the Asper Royal family, the Asperians closed their selves off, blocked all their borders with strong spells and refused to have talks with anyone outside of their boundaries." I let her have a moment to think over things.
