Watching Them

He sits by the talking crowds
People laughing and smiling
Some cry and yell
Surrounded by tables filled with friends
Some that will become enemies

In the center he waits
For someone who never comes
A circular metal table
Cold and empty
Just how he felt
when she never showed up

Alone he sat feeling the stares around him
Were they watching him or
Looking beyond that small table
His heart shrunk and no one ever made it in

A new girl appeared
He loved her laugh and smile but
His heart was broken just how her eyes looked
when she cried, shattered
He could not love her how she deserved
So he let her go and find the one that deserved her beauty and intelligence

Now she sits alone
At that cold circular table
Her heart now as broken as her eyes look
Her blue eyes stare shattered like broken glass
She waits for him but he will not come

Any love he could give her
was better than none
He thought this was best
Until he realized she was all he had left

It was to late to fight for her
She had already gone
That table now empty

Friends she had none
He was the only one who noticed
Her disappearance
