Snow's POV

The dining room was massive, almost double the size of the lobby, but the bag half was split into a small kitchen/bar area. The tables and chairs all stood in their natural positions, some pushed completely under their respective tables, and others poking out slightly. The dining room was normal, no rubble or broken planks, but the windows were boarded up like every other room. I made my way through the crowd of furniture, tearing off the planks that were nailed against the kitchen door. I threw them to the side, pushing open the door and stepping forward slightly, just to check my surrounds. Everything was quiet and I couldn't feel I change in air presence, which meant I was alone.

I shone my torch around the rather large kitchen, which was mainly filled with kitchen cabinets and sideboards. There was a rusty old fridge pushed into the corner, and a outdated wood oven at the far end of the kitchen.

I searched through each of the cabinets, but they were completely empty apart from a few plates, bowls, cups and some cutlery. For a place which had been abandoned for years, the inside of the cabinets were surprising clean, no dirt and very little dust. It seems like someone has been here...looking for something maybe...? I closed the cabinets and began looking around the island which sat in the centre of the kitchen. It was hard to tell if there was any gabs bellow the island because of the smooth stone floor, which was icy cold to the touch.

I finally sat down, cold and tired. I had searched everywhere, from top to bottom. Everything seemed normal and supposedly safe. Although I told this to myself, I wasn't convinced. The  door left slightly open when it should have been boarded up, The amulet and the clean cabinets were all creeping into my mind. They all pointed towards someone or something benign here AFTER the disappearance of the last owner. But why? I turned my head, looking around the kitchen for anything that would give me SOME idea of what someone would want from this place.

Then it struck me. Although I HAD checked every practical place that you could think of: drawers, gaps, cabinets, behind or under furniture, there was still one place I hadn't checked. I twisted my body around until I was facing the direction of the outdated wood oven. I stared at it, trying to catch anything out of the ordinary. I moved me head around, raising it and lowering it, until I caught a faint glimpse of a green glimmer. Getting up, I walked towards it and opened the rusted copper cover and peered inside. It was clearer now, the light was radiating from some sort of green gem.

I reached my hand in to grab it, dropping my guard since I had already cleared the most parts of the lodge. I felt my fingers grasp hold on the gem, and I tried to take my hand out, but pain flowed through my head, down my neck. I fell back against the island of counters, keeping consciousness just long enough to make out the outline of a cloaked and hooded figure, and by size, I guessed it was a guy. Then my vision blurred, and I was reduced to black, my mind lost in an wave of swarming pain. Unconsciousness flooded my body, and my thoughts zoned out.
