Truths Desire ~ Emerald Lodge (Aphmau fanfic with inserted characters)

The baby

*Snows POV*

As I walked out of the room, I saw Aphmau still sitting on the couch, however this time, Garroth sat next to her. As I approached I realised that Aphmau had her arms wrapped around a baby. Then it came back to me.

I stood still on the stairs which led down from the room. I couldn't move. I stared at the small bundle that tossed in Aphmaus arms. It took a moment before Garroth and Aphmau realised I was there. My legs gave way and I just allowed myself to sit on the stairs, my head resting against the banister. I dropped my eyes and closed them. How could this get better...

Suddenly I felt someone taking my hand. I refused, pulling against their grip and staying put. I didn't feel like moving. I didn't feel like anything. Everything hurt. My heart, my body... me...

However they weren't going to give up. After a few moments of my sitting there, I could feel someone lifting me up. I felt like a toddler who had refused a time out. I was tall but not very heavy. I opened my eyes and turned my head away. I just wanted to be alone... but that wasn't going to happen...

Garroth placed me onto the couch beside Aphmau, then sat on the other side of me. I tried to push away from the baby, but Garroth refused to let me move, wrapping his arm around my shoulder and taking hold on my hand. Aphmau looked at me and smiled.

"She's beautiful..." she whispered softly, some of the pain leaving her eyes. Aphmau had always loved babies. As I looked down at the small infant, I smiled. Her face was soft and chubby, her big eyes making her look adorable. When she saw me, I could see the look of love. She reached up her tiny arms and grinned.

Within that moment, I felt everything leave me. The pain, the fear, the past which I had loved with for so long... it all dissolved into nothing. I look her in my arms and stroked back her thick creme hair. She fitted perfectly in my arms... she fitted perfectly in me.

With her in my arms, I lay back against Garroth, resting my head against his shoulder and smiled. "What are you going to name her?" He whispered gently into my ear. I thought for a moment, then the name came to me. "Rosie... it's perfect... she's perfect..."

He smiled and kissed my forehead, but I was still looking at him. "What?" He said, a hint of humour in his voice. I shrugged and smiled. "Well I was just thinking... I really have no idea how to take care of a baby... so I kind of need some help." Beside me I felt Aphmau bubbling with excitement. A smile crept across my face and I closed my eyes. I drifted off to sleep, arms wrapped around me and my small child of peace.
