More Than a Beating Heart

She wrote a note,
Because she had no hope.
She sat and cried all day.
She finally came out that day,
No one is as they seem.
They didn't like it,
Tried to fight it.
Her sadness finally won.
She tied a rope
Around her throat.
Wrote, "Mom, what have you done?"
"Dad, can't you see
Your judgement's killing me?"
"Brother, Sister, listen close
This was not your fault.
It wasn't all our mom and dad,
I've always been a ghost.
My heart was beating, that was clear,
But it takes more than a beating heart to live here."
What they didn't know until they read,
Something she'd never said,
"Mom and Dad, can't you see?
I just needed to be me."
