Mistaken

Tin Man

Nobody gets everything they've ever wanted,
And in a way that makes life useless.
I guess that when your thoughts are haunted,
It's harder to see how to use this.
I guess the tin man wasn't too smart,
Although he got what he wished for.
He wished only for a heart,
But you can't buy one at a store.
I guess he'd never felt heartbreak,
Or the feeling of hopelessness.
He'll pick the shards up with a rake,
And I hope he realizes he doesn't want this.
