Crimson Pack

Chapter 7

Sorry for the delay. Some friends came over yesterday and I was too tired to write anything. Here's the new chapter, I hope you like it. 

Aria~

The atmosphere during breakfast is really tense. The girls look worried, they hardly touched the food in their plates. I have to tell that I am not even slightly nervous. He's just a simple person, why would I be nervous?

"Girls I can see that you're all done, " Xavier says a few minutes later. All the girls look at him.

"I would like to talk to each one of you personally. I'll meet you at my office. My assistant will tell you when your turn is" he adds and stands up, walking out of the room.

"Hello, ladies. I'm Caitlin, the Alpha's assistant " she says

"So here is the list of your names. When you're done with the Alpha, you will be escorted to your rooms by your guards " she tells us

"Okay, it's Emerson's turn. The guard will show you the way " she says

Emerson stands up and smiles to her friends, but it looks like a smirk and she walks outside.

"Hey, Aria. Are you nervous? " Allison comes to sit next to me

"No, not really. You ? "I ask her

"A little bit. I met him when I first arrived here. He seems a bit distant " she says

"Yeah, he can be " I laugh

"Hey, girls ! What did I miss ?" Kinsley joins us

"Nothing much. We're just talking " I tell her

"Oh okay " she smiles

"Kinsley it's your turn," Caitlin says and Kinsley sighs deeply.

"Good luck, " I tell her and she winks

"What do you think, he wants to talk about ?" Allison asks me

"Only if I knew "I shrug

After Emerson, it was Gianna's and Macy's turn. Soon enough it's Allison's  turn. When Caitlin announces her name, she gasps and I put my hand on her shoulder to calm her down.

"You'll be fine. Don't worry " I tell her

"I'll see you later Aria " she smiles and leaves the room

I'm the only one in the room. I walk up to the window and look outside. The weather is gorgeous today. Blue skies, no wind, ambient temperature - it's more like an absence of weather really.

"Aria it's your turn, " Caitlin says and I admit that her voice scared me a little.

I walk outside, Stuart is waiting for me.

"Nice to see you again Aria, " he says and I ignore him completely. I think that there's something wrong with him.

He just shows me where to go, without saying anything. We walk up the stairs once again until we reach the first floor. He stops in front of a tall and very heavy door, he knocks two times and then steps backwards.

"Good luck" Stuart whispers before the door opens

"Hello Aria, " Xavier says and lets me get in his office.

The office is painted grey, and it has only one floor-to-ceiling window, which faces the main road. On the grey, desk sits a desktop computer, a notebook lying open, and a stack of papers sitting under a turtle-shaped paperweight. A bookshelf, bursting with books was in a corner, with yet another stack of papers under a paperweight that was shaped to look like a tuft of grass. A few pens were lying on the papers, but some had fallen onto the top of the bookshelf.

"How are you today ?" He asks me and distracts me from my observations

"Good thanks" I reply

"You can sit if you want, "he says and stands in front of his desk with his back leaning against the thick wood behind of him.

I don't feel like sitting down so I just walk around the room. I stop in front of the windows.

"You don't talk much, do you ?" He asks me, his voice sounds closer to me.

"I don't have anything to talk about, " I say and he appears next to me, gawking outside.

"You really enjoy being outside, don't you ?" He asks me

"I've spent most of my life outside. This is a living hell " I exaggerate

"I can't tell that you don't like being here. Then why did you enter the contest ?" He turns to look at me

"When my mother found out that I was chosen, she didn't give me a choice. She had already decided for me "I tell him

"You can still leave if you want, " he says

"Do you want me to leave ?"I ask him and look right into his eyes. He seems surprised that I asked him that.

"It's your choice. I am not going to force anyone " he replies

"I am staying either way, " I say and he chuckles

"Can I ask you something? " I tell him

"You just did "he laughs and I roll my eyes

"Ask away, " he says

"Let's just say that you choose one girl from the contest. She becomes the Luna of the pack, but months or years later you find your mate. What would you do ?" I ask him

"Good question, "he says

"And I wish I had an answer to your question, but unfortunately I don't, "he tells me

"Okay, " I say and walk towards the book selves. He has some interesting books over there.

"Do you like books ?" He asks me

"I love books, "I tell him and he smiles

"I think they gave you some books, didn't they ?" he asks me

"Yes! I haven't read them yet "I say

"So what's the point of this meeting? " I ask him before he can ask me anything else

"Don't you like spending time with me ?" He ask me

"I never said that. I just asked why you wanted to meet us " I ask again

"I wanted to learn more about you and your lives, " he says

"You're doing I great job so far " I laugh and he shakes his head, a smile plastered on his face

"The other girls are too shy. I wonder why you're not "he says

"Why would I be shy? You're just ....a person "I say

"Just a person ?" He lifts his eyebrow

"Yeah "I nod

"Well, there's this sparkle in your eye that I really like. The other girls will have a strong opponent "he says

"That's not true. The other girls are better than me. And they are not the troublemakers here "I laugh and so does he

"Okay, Aria. That's all for today. Thanks for the interesting chat "he chokes

"Do you doubt that ?"I half laugh

"Me? Never "he acts like he's serious

"Okay whatever " I shrug

"I will see you later Aria, " he says and I walk towards the door

"And Aria "he calls my name before I touch the doorknob

"Stay inside please "he begs me

"We will see, " I tell him and leave the room
