Chapter 11

Aria ~

"I am so sorry Aria, " Xavier says while holding me in his arms.

I cry as if the ferocity of it might bring Kinsley back; as if by the sheer force of my grief the news would be undone. She was my friend, the best friend I've ever had and she could not be gone. Xavier tries to hold me back, to calm her. He is getting frantic now, he lifts me up from the floor and carries me like a bride somewhere down the hall. I rest my head on his chest, enjoying the feeling of his body making content with my cheek. He stiffens when I move closer to his chest. He continues to walk down the stairs elegantly and effortlessly.

As much as I try to hold it in, the pain comes out like an uproar from my throat in the form of a silent scream.

I keep my eyes closed, hoping that this will make me stop crying for a few minutes. I realise that he brought me to the garden when the cold air hits my shaking body. He puts me down and l am unable to look through my puffy eyes at his eyes. He sits me on a bench and he sits next to me, his arm still hugging me.

"Aria," he says when I calm down, his voice soft and caring

"Please say something "he continues when I don't say anything

"She shouldn't have died. She did nothing! "I say

"I know Aria "he nods.

"She was the best person I've ever met. She was funny and sarcastic at times. It won't be the same without her. If you ask me I believe that she would be the perfect Luna " I say as a tear rolls down my cheek. He doesn't reply. I don't think that there's something that he can say.

"I should have died instead of her " I continue and he turns to look at him. He grabs my hand and squeezes it tight.

"Don't say that again. Aria please don't think like that "he tells me. We both stay silent for a while. I can't say that it's awkward, I would say that it is rather comfortable.

"Alpha "A guard appears and stands next to Xavier

"What do you want us to do with the bodies ?" He asks him and I gasp. Xavier turns to look at me. He stands up and walks a bit far away so their words won't upset me again.

"Tell me when you're ready to go back inside. It's getting quite cold out here " he tells me when he comes back

"I don't want to go back in there " I whisper

"Everything reminds me of her and all the incident that I had to see " I continue

"I wish you hadn't seen that " he sits back down

"Everyone that I love, dies. My dad and now her. I think that sometimes it's my fault" I say

"It's not your fault Aria, " he says

"How's Allison? " I ask him

"They told me that she's very shocked. She's in her room but she's doing quite well " he explains

"What if all the guards are made to kill us except for Macy ?" I whisper

"We will have to figure this out. Don't worry about it. We will protect you, all of you " he says

"I am scared," I say

" Of what ?" He asks me

"I am afraid that everyone that I care about will disappear. And I'll be left alone " I explain

"I promise you nobody else is going to leave you, " he says

"Alpha " Another guard comes to us. Xavier stands up.

"You just go. I want to stay here for a while " I say and he turns to look at me

"You're not staying here alone, " he says

"I don't want to go back in my room, " I tell him

"Come on " he stands up and gives me his hand. He says something to the guard and he leaves.

I don't dare to ask him where we're going. We walk up the stairs, his hand in the small of my back, leading me upstairs. He doesn't stop on my floor. He just keeps walking. We reach the top floor and he stops in front of a door. A guard pushes the door open and he leads me inside.

"So this is my room. You can stay here until we fix everything down there. Also, you don't have to worry about the guards outside. I trust them with my life " he says

"You don't have to do that. I can stay somewhere else " I tell him

"It's fine Aria. But we should hide it from the other girls because I'm sure that they'll be very jealous " he laughs and I just smile

" I have some work to do. I will be back as soon as I can. You can sleep if you want. The bathroom is there and there's everything that you might need in there " he tells me

"You can wear this sweater or you can choose whatever suits you better from my closet if you want. Or just tell my maid to bring you some of your clothes " he tells me

"Thanks " I smile

"No problem. Just do me a favour and stay in this room. Can't put any other people in danger " he says

"I promise "

"My maid's name is Katherine. If you need anything just ring that bell over there. She'll be here immediately " he says

"I think I'll be alright, "I tell him

"Okay then. I'll see you later Aria" he says and leaves the room

I decide to take a shower, hoping that after that I'll feel slightly better. Xavier's bathroom is way bigger than mine. Keep in mind that mine is big enough.

I don't want to call his maid to bring me clothes because I want to be left alone so I just open his closet and try to find something comfortable. I find a grey hoodie with white stripes on the sleeves so I put it one. It looks like a dress on me so I think I'll be good for now.

It's dark now outside and it's not even 8 pm. Everything looks so peaceful outside, I think that he has the best view.  You can see the city behind the tall trees something that you can't observe from my room. There's a lounge chair next to the window so I sit down.

My eyes are heavy and soon enough I drift off to sleep.
