Chapter 42

Aria~

Xavier didn't have much to tell me. He remained silent. He didn't even say a word but what could he possibly say ? But as mum whispered to me years back 'Time will ease the pain. Life changes, nothing stays the same'. And she was absolutely right.  It's been years since all these things happened. When you can tell your story and it doesn't make you cry, that's when you've knowed that you have healed. And right now I know that I'm over everything that has happened in my life. Everything that has hit me in my life I've dealt with it on my own. I have picked myself up piece by piece. Perhaps I am stronger than I think.

Tomorrow Xavier is going to choose. It's either me or Emerson. There is nothing that I can do about it. Right now he is one decision away from a total different life. I just hope he chooses wisely.

"Aria " Mara says as she walks inside my room. I quickly stand up and hug her.

"How are you feeling?  I heard about that accident?  Are you okay ?" She bombards me with questions.

"I am good. Don't worry " I reassure her.

"I was so scared. They didn't let me see you. They told me that you freaked out whenever you saw someone that you couldn't remember." she says and I nod

"News travel fast " I laugh

"The walls have eyes and ears here " she tells me

"I can see that " I say

"Well...You are eating all together tonight. Do you think that you can go ?" She asks me

"I think I will go  " I say

"Are you sure Aria ?" She asks me.

"Yes" I nod and she smiles

Mara helps me get ready and when I am done I leave my room. I am wearing a greenish-blue gown made of soft, satiny fabric, long and loose. A semicircular, high collar made of silk-like materials headed the ankle-length  dress.

"Hello Snitch " I tease Stuart

"Hey there Foxy " Stuart says when I open my door.

" You going somewhere? " he asks me

"What does it look like ?" I ask

"Looks like you are going somewhere" he says and I shake my head, holding back a grin.

"Where to Miss ?" He asks me

"Never land " I laugh and he joins me.

"I am going downstairs " I explain and he nods

" The Chase is almost over. How do you feel ?" He asks me

"I am thrilled. Can't wait to go home " I say

"Come on Aria " he rolls his eyes

"What ?"

"How do you really feel ?" He asks me

"I don't know Stuart. I am a little nervous. But I am scared too " I confess

"Why are you scared ?" He asks me

" If he chooses me, I don't think I will be a great Luna " I say

"Aria, you were born to be a leader. You don't have to worry about it. We will always be by your side no matter what " Stuart tells me.

"I just realised something " I say

"And what is that ?" He ask me

" You are a good person " I admit and he laughs

"It's a bit late now isn't it ?"

"It's never too late Stuart. I am sorry for being rude to you the very first weeks. I am sorry for not listening to you and for causing trouble. I didn't mean to come off rude. I just don't open up easily. You are a true friend Stuart " I tell him and in a blink of an eye he wraps his arms around me.

"I will always be there for you " he whispers as I hug him back.

"Just don't let me down " I laugh

"Never " he smiles.

We stay in silence until we stop in front of the dining-room.

"I will see you later " I tell him as he opens the door for me. When I look inside I am shocked with what I see. Allison is here. She is sitting next to her mate. When her eyes land on me she stands up as fast as she can and runs to my side squeezing me in her arms.

"I've missed you " she whispers

"I can't believe you are here " I say

"I got here a few minutes ago. How are you ? I heard that you hit somewhere. Are you okay ?" She asks me

"Yes don't worry about me. You have a lot explaining to do " I tell her and she nods. Blake gives me a hand shake and then we take our seats. Allison sits next to me just like the old days. Gianna walks inside the room and smiles at us as she sits down. Then Emerson comes in. The door opens once again and we are shocked when we see the person standing there.

Macy walks inside. 2 guards are escorting her. She looks unharmed but I see the fear hiding in her eyes. She is wearing a grey dress. They have taken care She just sits down without saying a word.

"She's alive " Allison whispers to me.

"She is different though " I whisper back

"I bet she's been through a lot " she says

"It is just like the old days when we were all together. " I tell her

"True. Only Kinsley in not here anymore " Allison tells me

"We should visit her mother " I remind her

"I usually remember that very late at night and I forget to call you the next morning " Allison laughs

"It's alright " I reassure her.

Everyone stops talking when the door opens. Xavier walks inside, his parents follow him.

"Thanks for being here today " Xavier says

"I know that most of you thought that I would announce the Luna tomorrow but plans changed " when these words leave his mouth my hearts starts racing.

"I will announce the Luna after dinner " he tells us. Allison puts her hand on my leg under the table and squeezes it lightly.

"You will be alright " she whispers and I nod.

I am trying not to panic. It's just a name. It doesn't matter if he is going to choose you or her. You did the best that you could do. You can't change his mind.

I look up from my plate and my eyes meet Xavier's. We keep staring at each other for a few minutes until he looks away. His eyes can't give me the answers.  He looks really  nervous too  I don't feel like eating. I just want to find out the name. That's all. Minutes pass and everyone has finally finished eating. The maids pick up our plates and leave soon after. You can hear only some murmurs here and there. But that's all.

Xavier coughs lightly so he can get our attention. Everyone stops talking and we all look at him.

"It's been almost 2 months since all of you came in here. And now 2 months later I am announcing the Luna. It was a really difficult decision but I chose wisely"

"The girl that is going to be the Crimson Pack's Luna is...."
