Chapter 45

Aria~

"Are you ready to go ?" Allison asks me as I reach their car.

"I need to see a few people before I go" I tell her

"Go ahead " she urges me.

"Stuart, will you come with me ?" I ask him and his eyes light up.

"Gladly " he smiles

When I first got here, I hated having him following me everywhere. I know I was really rude to him when we first met. But then day by day our relationship started getting better. Now I just want him to escort me around the house for two reasons. First of all he knows this place better than I do and also I just want him to be with him for one last time.

"I would like to see Mara " I tell him and he nods. There's a hidden door next to the dining room. When he opens the door I can see stairs leading somewhere downstairs.

"This is where all the maids are " he tells me as we walk down there.

He opens another door and the first thing that I see is a very long table but not as expensive as the one upstairs. There are some other maids sipping a drink. My eyes land on Mara. She stands up when she sees me.

"Aria, is everything alright? " She looks worried

"Yes, don't worry. I just came here to day goodbye" I tell her

"What ? You're leaving? " her eyes widen

"Yes! Emerson is your Luna now. " I tell her

"Oh my!" She sighs, looking behind her. The other women start mumbling things that I am not able to hear.

"Thanks for helping me Mara! I am so glad that I had you here. I am sure I wouldn't be able to handle everything if you weren't here for me " I tell her as she pulls me into her embrace.

"I will miss having you around " she whispers to me.

"Take care " I say and she smiles.

"You too dear " That's the last things that I hear before I close the door behind me.

"Are you done ?" He asks me

"There is one last person that I want to see" I tell him

"Who is that ?" He asks me

"Do you know an old man that works here ? His name is Ben " I tell him

"Oh yes I know Ben! But I don't know where he is now. He is gone most of the time " Stuart informs me. We're on the ground floor again.

"I know where he can be. Could you wait here for me ?" I ask him and he nods

I remember Xavier telling me that only a few people know about the indoor garden. I am sure that he wouldn't like it if Stuart knew about that place. That's why I told him to wait for me down there.

I run up the stairs. I've walked up this staircase about a billion times. I will never get tired of doing that though. I've never seen every single room in this place, but I bet that there are a lot of secret rooms that only Xavier knows.

When I reach the top floor I look around and push the indoor garden's door open.

"Ben " My voice echoes on this room. I look around and spot him behind a tree.

"Aria " he calls my name as I walk closer to him.

" I knew I would find you here " I say as he wipes his hands on his pants.

"I came here to say goodbye" I say and he furrows his eyebrows.

"He chose her, didn't he ?" He asks me and I nod. He sighs deeply as he sits down on that bench that I sat the very last time that I was in here. I repeat his actions.

"You know...Sometimes it all comes down to one decision that can change everything...forever " he looks at his shoes and then my eyes. He puts his muddy hand on mine and holds it tight.

"We all know how selfish and egocentric Emerson is. But still he chooses her. He chooses her over a selfless and altruistic girl. Over a girl that is beautiful inside and out. I don't blame him though. I could never blame him for choosing his mate. That's what most people would do. That's what I would do. If I loved a girl that hadn't found her mate I would let her go. No matter how much I loved her I would leave her just because I know that her mate would make her happier than I ever would. He would make her feel things that she wouldn't be able to feel with me. He didn't choose you because he wanted you to be happy Aria. We know that Xavier and Emerson will be horrible together. I know you can't understand this now but he did this so you can be happier without him " Ben tells me as a tear slips down my face.

"You will find you path and be happy. I hope you do because everyone deserves this. Life is too precious to feel the way that you are feeling " he adds and I turn around so I can hug him. He hugs me back, patting my shoulder.

"Thank you Ben. I hope see you again" I stand up and his smiles.

"I am sure you will " he smiles and I close the door behind me, thinking about all the things that he said to me. I am too caught up in my thoughts that I don't look where I am going and hit somewhere. I feel arms wrapping around my waist, holding me still. I look up and I see Xavier. I cuss under my breath.

I am really lucky today...

"I am sorry " I apologise

"I thought that you left " he tells me

"I am leaving right now. I just came here to see Ben " I tell him and he nods.

"He is a good old man " he says and I nod.

"I should go " I say and take a step backwards and make my way downstairs really slowly but nothing stops me. Soon enough I am on the be very last step....

I was hoping he would stop me. I was hoping he would say something, anything that would make me stay.

But he didn't
