(Ok, so I'm pretty sure in serendipity I only called Josh's Dad Mr. Dun, so we're just gonna go with bill in this. Ok? Ok. Cool.)
Josh walked into his house, immediately being attacked with hugs. Josh picked Jordan up and Jordan grinned, "hey, joshie!"
Josh grinned back, "hey, buddy. How was school today?"
Jordan shrugged, "it was ok."
Josh kissed Jordan's cheek and put him back down. He walked into the kitchen, where Laura was cooking dinner. Ashley was setting up the table and Abigail was sitting on the counter, singing loudly.
Josh grinned, he was happy to be back home. Laura turned around and grinned, "hey, josh, how was school?"
Josh came up and began helping Laura chop the vegetables, "it was good. A little weird considering everyone thought I was dead."
Josh let out an amused laugh and Laura grabbed he knife form Josh's hand, "honey, you don't need to help. Why don't you go sit down, we got everything in here."
Josh rolled his eyes, "I've been asleep for almost a whole year, I think I've had enough rest. Come on, let me help out."
Laura sighed, "josh-"
josh frowned, "mom, seriously, I want to help. I'm fine now."
Ashely smiled warmly, "you can come help me with the table."
Josh smiled back, walking over to her. Josh began laying down the silverware and Ashely glanced at him, "did you see Tyler at school?"
Josh nodded, setting down the last of silverware, "ya, I did."
Ashley finished laying down the plates and napkins and sat down in one of the chairs, "how is he? None of us have seen him since after a couple month after your accident."
Josh sat down in another chair, "he's...he's going through a lot."
Ashely frowned, "I can only imagine. I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but I heard you talking to mom the other day. Does he really not want to be with you anymore?"
Josh shook his head, "no, he wants to be just friends."
Ashely placed her hand over Josh's, "I'm sorry, josh, I know how much you care for him."
Josh smiled at her, "it's ok, as long as I have him in my life, even if it's just as friends, I'll be ok."
Ashley raised an eyebrow, concern flashing across her face, "are you sure? I'm sorry, josh, but I don't think you will be."
Josh's eyebrows furrowed, "what?"
Ashley sighed, "never mind, just...please don't let yourself get hurt."
Josh smiled, "I won't."
Bill walked into the house and made his way into the kitchen where everyone was. He ruffled Josh's hair, "hey, josh. How have you been?"
Josh smiled, "fine, thank you."
Laura set all the food on the table and smiled, "is everyone ready to eat."
Jordan and Abigail came running to the table, cheering that the food was ready. Laura chuckled and began passing around the food. The dinner was loud, like usual. But josh was glad he could be apart of his loud family again.
