"Okay, mom. What did you need again?" I asked my mom over the phone. I held my phone against my ear as I tried to push the door to exit.
I heard her laugh. "Eliana, you called me like 20 minutes ago asking me the same question."
"Mom," I groaned. "Please don't use that teasing tone with me. Just tell me what groceries you needed," I pleaded.
"Okay, so you remember the opening and closing hours of that coffee shop, and their holiday schedule, but you can't remember something I told you so recently?" She asked, and I could tell that she was rolling her eyes at me. "Let me guess, you have a coffee cup in your hand right now. Is that your second time just today? Fits your schedule, huh?"
Now, I was rolling my eyes at her. "Mom, I called you to ask what you needed, but if you don't wanna tell me then that's fine too."
"So I guess I won't be cooking dinner for you tonight. That's fine too, for me."
"Mom," I groaned again. "What do you need?"
"Okay," she laughed. "Just get me some onions and mushrooms."
I stopped walking for a bit. "Wait. That's all you needed?"
"Yes, Eliana," she said slowly. "See why I was teasing you? It was only two things, kiddo."
"Oh," I said a bit dumbfounded. "Well, mom, you and I know about my memory problems by now. I have the worst memory ever."
"See you later, old lady," she laughed and hung up.
I stared at my phone after she hung up. "Huh."
I turned the corner and bumped right into someone. I lost my balance, per usual, and fell. "Okay, ow," I moaned, rubbing my back. I looked up and the guy was just standing there, but my coffee was all over him. I stood up immediately. "Oh my gosh. I'm so, so sorry." I tried to pat the coffee on him, but I just ended up being awkward.
"Woah," he said. "I don't know who you are, so I would like if you didn't invade my personal space." He slightly pushed me away, but his tone was cruel.
I stepped back because he clearly didn't like it. "Gosh, okay. I'm sorry."
"Why don't you just say 'god'?" He looked annoyed, and I was starting to get annoyed by him, which takes a lot by the way.
"Why don't you say 'I'm sorry'?" I asked with a hand on my hip, but I quickly changed my stance and placed both my hands on my side. This tough act just isn't me. "I - I mean I was just wondering."
He stared at me weirdly. "Look, I got somewhere to go, so I'm just going to leave now," he said, stilling giving me a weird look.
He started to walk away, but I grabbed onto his arm. He looked back at me with a stern look. I quickly let go. "You bumped into me, okay? I fell on my butt, and it really hurt." I tried to sound strong and angry but let's be real, I sound ridiculous.
