"That's my daughter I want to be here."

I tried to open my eyes, but I couldn't.

"Please. We wouldn't want to upset her when she wakes up."

I tried to move my legs, but I couldn't. I couldn't even lift my finger.

"It's been a couple hours, and she still hasn't woken up yet. Where's her mother?"

I tried to open my mouth to speak, but nothing is coming out.

"We're trying to reach her. Hazel went to get her."

Mom?

"I can't believe this is happening."

"Since her mom is going to come, I think that gives more reason for you to leave. Eliana wouldn't want her mom finding out like this."

"I am her family," Brandon said firmly. "I know this is what she would've wanted."

I tried to speak again. "B-Br-" I heard shuffles and all of a sudden, I felt crowded. "Brandon?"

"Baby girl, I'm here," he said softly, placing his hand over mine.

I know I shouldn't, but my heart warmed at the old nickname. I instantly felt better.

"It hurts," I groaned.

"I know, I know," he said. "You got hit by a car. Thankfully, you didn't get severely hurt. You broke your legs though."

"No more fun adventures?" I teased.

"No, not for a while, baby girl," he chuckled.

"Father," I said. I felt him leaning in closer on the other side of me.

"Yes?" He questioned.

I ignored him. "Brandon. My mom. I don't want my mom to see him like this. I have to tell her first," I told him, slowly opening my eyes.

I could barely make out Brandon nodding his head. He looked up at my father. My father sighed and hung his head down low. He began to walk out.

"Wait," I croaked. He stopped and looked at me with the most hopeful eyes. I bit my lip, looking away from his eyes. "Is Jason okay?"
