THREE MONTHS LATER

Ever since I moved out to LA, I haven't really made any new friends. My only true friend was Austin, but hanging out with him was proving to be tough because some people still thought we were dating, probably because there were still some articles that wrote that. It's quite annoying, really, because... still? He has a girlfriend!

So most days I'm quite lonely, but it doesn't really matter much to me because I spend most of my times with the kids at the center. I guess that means that I'm really not that lonely because all the kids at the center have my heart. I love spending all of my time with them. I love getting to know them.

I was currently at the center right now working on some last minute paperwork when a knock interrupted me from my work.

Brandon only stuck his head in through the door, even though the whole door was open.

Even though we agreed on being friends and whatnot a few months ago, we haven't really talked. I mean, we exchange greetings whenever we see each other, but we haven't really talked like before, even like before we were dating. We're just mere acquaintances now.

"Hey," I greeted him softly, standing up to meet him.

He was still standing shyly by the door before he grew some nerve to step one foot into the room, followed by the rest of his body. "Hey."

"What are you doing here?" I asked, motioning with my hands, but when I found that was a tad bit awkward, I hastily put my hands to my side. I was nervous, not because I was still in love with him, but it's not every day your ex-boyfriend comes searching for you.

"I heard from Austin that you're in charge of this center. He said you were doing some good work here. I wanted to check it out for myself."

"Well, what do you think?" I asked, gesturing to the whole space.

"I think it's amazing," he said softly, "that you're helping all these kids. If people don't know about Eliana Violet, they will soon enough," he said with a sure smile. "Seriously, this is," he takes another breath to look around and breathes out, "incredible. Is it okay to say I'm proud of you?"

"I hope so because I'm proud of you too, remember?" I raised an eyebrow at him. He was being kind of weird. I wanted him to let loose a bit. He was acting like I was going to blow up anything second.
