FIVE MONTHS LATER
"I can't believe Austin set me up on a blind date," I complained, filling my mouth with a whole spoonful of ice cream. "I mean, what kind of best friend does that? I told him I wasn't looking with anyone, especially because of my work at the center. I don't even like blind dates. It feels so forced like," I stop rambling when I saw the glint in his eyes. "What?" I asked, putting my spoon down and giving him a look.
"Nothing," Brandon said, speaking through his ice cream. He smirked.
"Do you know something that I don't?"
"I just thought I was your best friend," he shrugs, feigning hurt.
"You are," I retorted. "Who else would I go on adventures with? Especially going to different ice cream places and rating them even though we're not esteem food critics."
"Hey, I don't know about you, but I am an esteemed food critic. I write Yelp reviews and everything," he joked, stealing a spoonful of my ice cream. When I made an outburst, he just simply said, "I need to taste as many flavors as I can to write an accurate review."
I move my bowl of ice cream away from him and made a wall around it with my arms. "You were disgusted when I ordered this," I said personally offended even though he didn't assault ME.
"It sounded weird," he defended himself, and I removed my arms because he was right. It did sound weird.
"Can we get back to my crisis?" I asked, sighing even thinking about it.
"It's not a crisis," he laughed. "Plus, we agreed not to talk about dates until things get more serious," he pointed out, poking my nose with his spoon.
I grimaced, wiping the bit of ice cream away.
In the beginning, it had been hard to maintain our friendship and our relationships at the same time so we decided to separate the two things. After the whole incident with Ana, I was worried about people still thinking there was something going on. Then, when I met this guy who had quite a big masculine character that insisted I couldn't be best friends with a guy and Brandon wanted to intervene and punch the guy, we formed the deal. It was easier for our friendship because no lines would be crossed. If one of our relationships got serious, then we'd introduce them to one another. It got rid of all the awkward tension of introducing your new person to your ex.
"But I do know something," he smirked. "I met him the other day. You're going to have so much fun." Since he had a mischievous smile on, I knew the guy was going to be insufferable already.
"You have to come," I begged him.
He stopped eating his ice cream. "You want me to go on your blind date with you?" He questioned. "I don't think that's how it works." He shook his head.
