I cried the entire drive. Landon didn't speak, trying to give me my space I guess.
We finally pulled up to the small brick house. It looked worse than I remembered. We got out of the car. Landon rushed to my side and grabbed my hand. "It's going to be okay. We'll get them and none of you will ever see him again." I just nodded.
I couldn't feel my legs, but somehow forced them to move. I had to keep going for Kris and my mom. We reached the door and I had to use all my strength to turn the knob. I let out a breath I hadn't known I was holding.
Landon went inside first pulling me in behind him and closed the door.
"Kris? Mrs. Asher?" He called. No one answered.
"Mom? Kris?" I echoed. Still nothing.
I walked into mom and dad's room. The room was neatly made. Everything was made and in it's place, except for the blood. Blood was everywhere! It covered everything! The old white and green room was now red! I heard myself gasp and run.
I ran up the stairs into me and Kris's room. It was perfectly clean, too. And again, blood covered the walls and floor. I backed up and ran into something. I screamed and jumped, turning to fight whatever it was, but it was only Landon. His arms wrapped tight around me.
His mouth had dropped. He was looking everywhere. "What happened?" He asked in a whisper.
"He killed them?" I asked in return. My father was crazy, but I never thought he would kill someone. He wouldn't.
"We can't stay here. We have to go-" he was interrupted by a bang. The front door had slammed open shortly followed by loud laughing, my father's laugh.
"Lillian? You here sweaty? I missed you so much, baby." I heard his heavy footsteps on the stairs.
Landon quickly pulled me behind him, blocking me from the danger that was coming.
"Is someone here with you? Or did you get a new truck? Did you find someone else? Does he give you the pleasure I gave you? Does he love you like I loved you? Would he kill for you?" I heard his disturbed laughter again. He had reached the top of the stairs.
I had to get Landon out of here. My father was going to kill him! I tried to pull Landon towards the window, but he wouldn't budge. He had his feet planted on the ground, ready to face whatever was coming.
"Landon, please! Please! Come with me! We might be able to make the jump, but if we stay here we are going to get killed!" I whispered in the softest voice I could manage.
I finally got his attention and we rushed towards the window. He slammed it open just as my father cam into the room.
"And where do you think you are going honey? We have some business to take care of." In his hand he held a wooden baseball bat. He laughed again, and then he turned and closed the door behind him and locked it.
