I walked out of the house only to hear Ben and Landon fighting.

"Why the hell did you let her come here? Our family is getting hurt now!"

"She needs help! He father will kill her if he finds her!"

"And until he does he is just going to keep hurting and killing ours! So, now, she is going to go to her father and we are going to get ours back! Is that clear?" Ben roared. His eyes were dark with rage and his muscles were tense.

Landon stood there with his head bowed, looking like he ad given up. His chest rose and fell fast and hard with his breathing.

"No, she isn't going anywhere unless you want me to go too. I promised I wasn't leaving her and there is nothing that would make me." He said, he had made up his mind and that was clear in his voice, strong and confident.

"I'll go." I hadn't known I had made up my mind until I said this. I wasn't going to tear apart another family.

They both turned towards me. Ben relaxed a little and Landon looked scared. "And alone, Landon. I'm not letting you come with me this time." I said. I could hear the frightened sound of my voice in my own ears. I took a breath, trying to relax it before I talked again.

"Yes, I am! You can't stop me! I am going and that's final!" He was talking fast and looking around nervously.

"I probably can't stop you," I said, more confident this time, "But Ben can, and I'm sure he will." Out of the corner of my eye I saw Ben nod his head in agreement.

"Landon, it's for your own good. And I will stop you of you even think about going anywhere. I'll break both of you legs before you can even take a step." He said.

"No, I'm either going or Lillian isn't going at all." He said slowly and steady, emphasizing each word.

"Landon, I'm sorry. I need to do this. I won't let him hurt your family or you." I shook at the image of what would happen if my father saw Landon again.

Tears stung his eyes and he opened his mouth to protest, but closed it instead. He walked over to me and cupped my face in his hands, sot and warm against my skin.

"Please Lillian. You don't have to do this." He said, begging me.

"I do Landon. And I have to do it alone." My voice broke at the end. I effused to let myself cry, I had to be strong and prove to him I could do it.

He was shaking his head again; he knew my mind was made up.

I stood on my tippy-toes and kissed him softly. I put my arms around his neck and he wrapped his around my waist. This is where I belonged, I knew it. It felt so safe and perfect kissing him, pressed up against him. I never wanted to eave the security of his arms, but I knew I had to.

The kiss quickly turned into a good-bye kiss, harder and more urgent.

"So, Landon can stay here and Lillian can come with me and I'll take her to where ever her father is." Ben was saying as we continued kissing.

Landon tears fell onto my face. I felt his body heave then stiffen beneath his shoulders. He pulled away, "I love you. Don't stop fighting, okay? Please come back to me." The tears were coming quicker now.

"I promise I will not stop. Landon, I love you, too."

I took a step back, taking one last look at him, and then started walked towards the car.

Ben was already inside waiting for me. "Where to?" He asked.

I gave him the directions to my house, where I was sure my father was waiting, without ever taking my eyes away from Landon.

He was standing right where I left him. His head was bowed again and his back was rigid. Ben started the car and began driving, Landon's figure becoming smaller and smaller until he was just a small speck in the night. Until I couldn't see him anymore.
