About twenty minutes later we showed up at their dad's house.

It was large and wooden. The inside of the house was lit up; you could see small red splatters of the curtains.

Ben jumped out of the car, running up to the front door while I help Landon.

Ben slammed the door open and stopped, looking around with his jaw hanging. He took a timid step forward and paused. "Dad? Dad?" He called, tears already running down his face. He started running around inside the house.

Landon was breathing heavy as we approached the door. I could tell he was scared.

We could see inside now. It looked how my house looked; neat, but covered with blood. The smell of iron was so strong that it mad me gag.

Ben came running into the front room, "He's not here? He's not here!" He looked like a frightened little boy. "What did he say on the phone, Landon?"

"All he said was someone was in his house, then the connection went bad and all I heard was screaming and the line cut off." He was crying now too.

"Who the hell would do this?" He looked at me, glaring. He had an idea of who it could have been.

"He knew where my father lived, didn't he." Ben asked in an accusing tone.

I nodded my head.

"It's not her fault, Ben." Landon said, stepping in front of me as Ben came forward.

What had I done? I pulled Landon and his family into my crazy situation. I should never have let him help-

My thoughts cut off as I saw something stuck on the wall next to the kitchen.

A small piece of paper was held up by a large, blood covered knife. My breath caught in my chest.

"Landon." I choked out.

He turned and followed my stare, his eyes landing on the piece of paper. He rushed over and snatched it down.

"Damn it!" He yelled as he crumpled the paper up and threw it down. He ran out the house without saying anything else.

Ben, who had been glaring out me the entire time walked over and picked it up.

His mouth dropped. He looked back up, shaking his head. Ben shoved the paper in my chest as he walked by and followed Landon out the door.

Dearest Lillian,

' I'm sure you and your little friend have found this boy now. If you want his dad back, you have to let me see you again honey, before more people get hurt! Alone this time.

Love you,

Your daddy
