Felicity's POV
The next week of school dragged on. All anyone was talking about was the Yule Ball, until finally, it was Christmas Eve. True to plan, Ginny and Adelaide met up with Mione and me in our dorm, hands full with their dresses and jewelry and shoes.
Surprisingly, we had the dorm to ourselves, which Adelaide took full advantage of by jumping from bed to bed like some crazed animal. She was practically bursting with excitement. Ginny was ready first, because her dress and makeup was the simplest. Then Adelaide, whose dress was the same color as the other Beauxbaton girls, but draped on the ground and hugging her enviable figure tightly. Her hair was curled and her makeup was natural.
My dress was a two-piece; the top part was white swirled with a deep purple velvet, and the bottom skirt was the same velvet cloth. It was barely noticeable that it was a two piece dress, seeing as only an inch it two of skin was showing between each part. I had my hair in an elegant bun, with a braid circling my head like a crown, and silver shoes and jewelry.
Mione and I put the finishing touches on our makeup before turning around to Adelaide and Ginny, who were no doubt talking about boys. "Well?" Mione asked. I could practically hear the nervousness dripping from her voice. They looked up and gasped.
"Aw, girls, you look beautiful!" Adelaide complimented with a grin. Hermione's anxiety seemed to ebb a little. "Viktor and Dalton won't be able to keep their eyes off of you guys," Ginny said. "Or their hands," Adelaide added with a sly smirk. I rolled my eyes and chuckled, choosing not to reply.
"Shall we go liven up the ball now, ladies?" I asked. They all smiled as we linked arms and strode to the Great Hall.

Neville met Ginny at the entrance, just as Lee met Adelaide, who gave us one last wink before descending into the hall. Mione and I had told Viktor and Dalton to meet us at the bottom of the steps instead of the doors. Well, I had told them that, because Mione needed to make an entrance to spite Ron, and I needed to make one to spite Draco.
Mione says I can be a little petty. Oh, well.
We stood just around the corner from the open doors, and Hermione was pacing. "What if I trip down the stairs, or mess up the dance, or-" "Mione," I interrupted. My serious voice must've distracted her, because she stopped moving. "We are going to strut down these steps, and you're going to be the best dancer out there, and nothing will go wrong, understand?"
Hermione nodded and took a deep breath. "Okay, let's go," she said. I smiled as we rounded the corner and began descending down the steps. The first thing I noticed was the sheer amount of students already here. It seemed so much more packed, or maybe I was just nervous. The second thing I noticed was Viktor and Dalton at the bottom of the stairs, their faces varying degrees of joy and awe.
No doubt, I was blushing bright red. The third thing I noticed was Draco Malfoy, with Parkinson on his arm, staring intently at me, his face... was that surprise? I couldn't be sure before he turned away, his features becoming unreadable.
We finally reached our dates, who inclined their heads and offered their hands. I grinned and accepted Dalton's as he led me to the circle forming around the dance floor area. There was already a clear path being created for the Champions and their dates, and I prayed Hermione had calmed her nerves.
Dalton leaned down, whispering, "You look stunning." His breath against my ear made me shiver before my lips tilted up into a small smile. "You don't look too bad yourself," I replied smoothly. In fact, he looked amazing.
The Champions began walking down the path, Krum and Mione in front. I perked up at the sound of Hermione's name coming from the couple behind us. Without looking, I knew it was Padma Patil and Ron. "Is that Hermione Granger?" Padma asked, shocked, "With Viktor Krum?" I could imagine Ron shaking his head. "No," he denied, sounding completely miffed, "Absolutely not." I rolled my eyes. When would he realize he fancied Mione?
