Felicity's POV
Hermione and I stood over Harry's bed, waiting anxiously for him to wake up. Before his eyes were even fully open, Harry muttered, "I saw my dad." I exchanged a worried glance with Hermione. Madame Pomfrey had said his injuries were minimal, but had he hit his head too hard? "What?" Hermione asked. "He sent the dementors away," Harry insisted, "I saw him from across the lake." I looked again at Hermione before deciding that we could put Harry's dead father aside for a moment. "Listen Harry, they've captured Sirius," I told him bluntly, "And any minute the dementors are gonna perform the Kiss, unless we do something to stop it." Harry sat up, wincing a little. "They're gonna kill him?" he asked, horrified. "No," Mione shook her head, "It's worse." "Much worse," I chimed in. "They're going to suck out his soul."
The heavy doors to the Hospital Wing opened and none other than Albus Dumbledore walked in. "Headmaster, you've got to stop them," Hermione pleaded, "They've got the wrong man." Harry stumbled out of the bed, slinging his arm around my neck as we joined Mione in front of Dumbledore. "It's true," Harry agreed, "Sirius is innocent." "It's Scabbers who did it," Ron finally spoke up."Scabbers?" Dumbledore asked, seemingly mystified.
"He's my rat, sir," Ron replied, just as urgent as Hermione, Harry, and me, " Except he's not really a rat. He was a rat. He was my brother Percy's rat. But then they gave him an owl..." Hermione shook her head and cut him off. "Look, the point is, we know the truth," she said, "Please believe us." Dumbledore looked regretful. "I do, Miss Granger," he responded, patting her shoulder, "But the word of four 13-year-old wizards will convince very few others. A child's voice, however honest and true, is meaningless to those who have forgotten how to listen."
I almost groaned in frustration. Now was not the time for poetry and life lessons, it was time to save a life. "Mysterious thing, time," Professor Dumbledore said speculatively, "Powerful... and when meddled with, dangerous." He turned and began heading out the door. "Sirius Black is in the topmost cell of the Dark Tower," he said casually, without turning to face us, "You know the laws, Miss Granger. You must not be seen. And you would do well, I feel, to return before this last chime."
He paused, looking out a clock hanging on the wall. "If not, the consequences are too ghastly to discuss. And if you succeed tonight.." He paused again, just for the effect this time, I think, "more than one innocent life may be spared. Three turns should do it, I think." My mouth was open and my brows were furrowed. What in the world was he talking about? "Oh, and by the way," the headmaster added, finally turning around to look at us, "When in doubt, I find retracing my steps to be a wise place to begin. Good luck." And with that he strode out the doors.
"What the bloody hell was that all about?" Ron asked, seeming equally bewildered as I felt. "Sorry, Ron, but seeing as you can't walk..." Hermione pulled a long chain out from under her sweater. Attached to it was- "A Time Turner?" I asked, shocked, "Where the hell did you get a Time Turner?" She looped the chain around mine and Harry's neck, ignoring my question. She turned a dial on the side of the object three times and it began spinning, faster and faster, until my eyes could no longer keep up with it. All around us, the Hospital Wing was changing. It was getting lighter, and patients were fluttering in and out. Then everything stopped and Hermione unhooked the chain from behind our heads.
"Wh- What just happened?" Harry asked, head whipping around to examine our surroundings, "Where's Ron?" Hermione ignored him and glanced up at the clock on the wall. "7:30," she read, before turning to me, "Where were we at 7:30?" I answered after a moment of thought. "Heading to Hagrid's." Hermione nodded and grabbed mine and Harry's arm. "Come on," she said, "And hurry, we can't be seen."
We raced through the courtyard and to the overlook above Hagrid's hut, where we hid behind a stone arch. "Wha- That's us," Harry stated, pointing out the obvious as we stared down at ourselves a mere three hours ago. The curses I'd thrown at Malfoy were audible, even from where we stood. "This isn't normal," Harry murmured. Hermione pulled him back and pressed him against the wall, pulling her necklace out from under her shirt again. "This is a Time Turner, Harry," she explained, "McGonagall gave it to me first term. This is how I've been getting to my lessons all year." I'd already been suspicious as to how she had as many classes as she did, so that was one question answered.
