Felicity's POV
The next day, I woke up to insistent tapping on my windowsill. Bleary-eyed, I sat up and waved Marvin away from my head, where he was flying around frantically. I trudged over to my window and flung it open, letting in the familiar Horned owl that I saw only yesterday. It carried a package, and dropped it on my bed before approaching Marvin with what I can only say was curiosity. I decided to leave them be and sat back down on my bed, picking up the package.
In a strangely delicate and all too familiar script, my name was scrawled. I tore open the wrapping to reveal a little silver box. Within the box was a necklace.
The necklace.
I gasped as the sunlight caught the right angles on the ruby gem and cast a strange light formation on my wall. A note fell out of the box. I picked it up gingerly. On it, written by the same person, were the words:
To further answer the question from your last letter, one of the things I notice is when you notice something. So here's a beautiful necklace for a beautiful girl.
-D.M.
I exhaled sharply, a smile making it's way onto my face. I pulled out my quill and parchment and began writing.
Dear Draco,
Consider me impressed. I never would've pegged you as a romantic, but you surprised me. The necklace is beyond gorgeous, and you shouldn't have gotten it for me. But because you did, thank you times a thousand. Seriously, it's amazing. And so are you.
Have you named your owl yet? He's getting along fabulously with Marvin.
~F.L.
I rolled up the parchment and held it out to Draco's owl, who snatched it up and soared out of my window. I returned to my bed and picked up the necklace, shaking my head. It was such a sweet gesture, and I never thought Draco would be one for sweet gestures.
Only moments later, a different owl flew into my room and landed on my bed. I registered this one as Errol, the Weasley's old and senile mail-carrier. There was a piece of parchment in his beak, which I accepted before he hopped off my bed and landed on the floor in a heap of feathers. He popped up a moment later, seemingly unharmed, and flew back out my window.
With my brow furrowed in confusion, my eyes skimmed across the words written on the paper. They weren't, however, written in anyone's handwriting that I recognized. My eyes widened as I saw who it was from.
Miss Longbottom,
If you could kindly report to the Weasley's Burrow as quickly as possible, it would be much appreciated.
Oh, and bring some belongings.
-Headmaster Albus Dumbledore
~*~
I obeyed my Headmaster's instructions, telling my Gran that I was going to sleep over with Ginny for a while. She loved the Weasley's, but gave me a stern look when I asked. "Not for too long," she replied. I agreed and used Floo Powder to get me there. Their house was a flurry of action and people I didn't recognize. I gripped my bag, filled with clothes and essentials, tightly by my side until I spotted Ginny among everyone. I called her over and she looked relieved to see me.
"What's going on?" I asked, bewildered. She looked excited. "You know the Order of the Phoenix?" she questioned, and then covered her mouth with her hands, "Oh, of course you do, I'm so sorry-" I waved on for her to continue, ignoring my plunging heart at the reminder of my parents and the fate they met while in the Order, and her excitement came rushing back. "Well, this is the new one. Dumbledore's organizing it, with only the most trusted people to act against He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named." I noted all the Weasley's, plus, to my surprise, Sirius and Remus, along with Mione and Alana. I turned to face Ginny again.
"So why did I need to pack a bag?"
"Just wait until you see Headquarters."
