Felicity's POV

"Make it a powerful memory," Harry ordered, looking several of us in the eye, "the happiest you can remember." I instantly thought of Draco, and as if Harry knew it, his gaze shifted towards me with a look of something close to disappointment. I lifted my chin and glared right back. He rolled his eyes and went back to instructing.

"Allow it to fill you up." He strolled around the room as we all dispersed. I isolated myself in the far corner of the room as Harry murmured, "Keep trying, Seamus. George, your turn now. Amazing job, Mione." I thought about Draco; his smile, his eyes, his laugh, his smell. I thought about his touch, his kisses and gentle words. I thought about those minutes spent together the last time I saw him, his hands on my hips and mine in his hair... "Expecto Patronum."

A flood of bluish white light streamed from my wand, swirling around me and forming a vague shape. I closed my eyes and imagined a world where it didn't matter whose family did what and the two of us were normal and happy. When I opened them, my Patronus was a dolphin, swimming around in the air around me. I grinned in delight, but the Patronus slowly faded away as I caught Harry's eye.

"Well done, Felicity," he said, offering me a brittle smile. I opened my mouth to say something, but he was already lecturing again.

"A full-bodied Patronus is the most difficult to produce, but shield forms can also be equally useful against a variety of opponents. Just remember, your Patronus can only protect you for as long as you stay focused."

Suddenly, the hairs on my arm stood on end. The chandelier far above our head rattled, and all spells quieted. A faint thudding sound resounded throughout the room, and I quickly jogged towards the door, pushing people back from the entrance towards the safety of the back of the room. The lights flickered as one of the walls of mirrors began cracking.

As if someone had punched it, small fractures slid from the center of the mirror until the whole thing shattered, revealing a tiny hole in the stone of the wall behind it. Nigel and Harry crept towards it, and I was a step behind.

"I'll make short work of this," a sickeningly familiar voice stated. My eyes widened as I leveled my face with the hole, before stumbling back and pulling Nigel from the wall. "Everyone down!" I shouted. Most people immediately dropped, but Nigel stood petrified. I tugged him down to the ground, shielding his body with mine a second before the spell was uttered.

"Bombarda Maxima." The entire wall exploded, spraying chucks of stone and shards of mirror everywhere.

All of the Inquisitorial's Squad stood in front of the opening, including Filch and the Pink Toad herself.

And Draco.

I swore my heart stopped beating.

My eyes sought out his, but he ignored me steadfastly. Then Crabbe pushed his way up to the front of the group, dragging a crying Cho Chang with him. I could tell Harry was as crushed as I was.

I instantly thought back to just a few hours ago, when Draco had said he loved me. When he'd touched me and smiled at me like the goddamned idiot I am when I said we had our own agendas and families to fight for and...

When I said we had each other to fight for.

No wonder the bastard had been so uneasy. He knew, and he didn't tell me. Such a raging pit of betrayal and despair opened up inside me, so much anger that my hands started shaking.
