Felicity's POV

I sat with Harry and Neville on the edge of the Great Lake as Nev waded in knees deep, murmuring to himself. "Amazing," he muttered, "Amazing!" Harry grabbed a leather-wrapped book from Neville's bag and flipped through it, saying, "Neville, you're doing it again." I shot him a glare. If my brother wanted to go on and on about how amazing plants are, then he very well could.

Harry gave me an apologetic look before reading the title of the book. "Magical Water Plants of the Highland Lochs?" Nev nodded enthusiastically. "Moody gave it to me," he explained, "The day we had tea."

He looked up from the plant in hand and waved to someone behind us. Harry and I turned and I mentally groaned upon seeing Ron, Mione, and Ginny walking towards us. I'd already told the girls that even though I 'sided' with Harry, that didn't mean we were suddenly enemies as Harry and Ron seemed to be. They were relieved, but the tension was still unbearable.

The three approached, Ron and Hermione bickering as always, before Mione came up to us. She seemed uncomfortable, but delivered her message nonetheless. "Ronald would like me to tell you that Seamus told him that Dean was told by Parvati that Hagrid's looking for you," she rushed out.

"Is that right?" Harry asked, though his brows were furrowed in confusion. "Well, you- What?" Hermione sighed at his question and returned to Ron, who whispered something to her. She stood in front of us again and said, "Dean was told by Parvati that- Please don't ask me to say it again." She paused, shaking her head, "Hagrid's looking for you." Harry glowered at Ron. "Well, you can tell Ronald-" "I'm not an owl!" Hermione snapped.

She turned away and her and Ginny linked arms as they walked back to the castle. I felt a pang of jealousy but ignored it as Ron and Harry glared at each other one last time before Ron followed the girls.

Those goddamned pins. Almost everyone was wearing them, even the first years and some Gryffindors. I'd been trying to ignore them, seeing as they mocked my best friend, but when I spotted Draco and his friends wearing them, I snapped. I slammed the book I was reading shut and shoved it in my bag before storming over to the tree Malfoy sat in. His cronies noticed me approaching and began hooting and hollering. I ignored them and strode straight to the base of the tree.

"Take it off, Malfoy," I growled. They all knew that I was talking about the pin, but laughed anyway. "May as well write 'desperate' on your forehead, Longbottom," Draco smirked. That smirk... I paid no heed to my hammering heart and focused on my anger instead.

"Well, I'd have to be to go after you, wouldn't I?" I spat. He jumped from the tree and I took a step forward, wondering where the boy who'd comforted me after seeing the Cruciatus Curse and apologized to me on the train was. He opened his mouth to speak before his eyes landed on someone behind me.

"Why so tense, Potter?" he jeered. I turned to see Harry advancing. He sent me a confused glance, but I just shook my head and moved to stand with him. "My father and I have a bet, you see," Malfoy stated, "I don't think you're gonna last ten minutes." I rolled my eyes as he continued. "He disagrees," Draco taunts, "He thinks you won't last five."

Harry surged forward before I grabbed his arm and pulled him back again. I wouldn't put it past the Slytherins to fire a few jinxes, and there were two of us and five of them. Not very good odds. "I don't give a damn what your father thinks, Malfoy," Harry shot back, "He's vile, and cruel. And you're just pathetic." He turned around, ready to leave after getting the last word.

Suddenly, there was a startled shout from Malfoy. Harry and I whipped around as golden light engulfed Draco, leaving a white ferret in his place. Mad-Eye Moody stomped up to the creature, wand out. "I'll teach you to curse someone when their back is turned!" he yelled, moving his wand up and down and the ferret along with it, "You stinking, cowardly, scummy-" Someone must've alerted McGonagall of the brewing fight because she neared, looking alarmed.
