Felicity's POV

I sat with Seamus, Dean, Ginny, and Mione in a compartment far from Harry and Ron's, per Hermione's request. Seamus sat uncomfortably close, and I immediately hated myself for leading him to believe I'd asked him as anything more than friends to Slughorn's party. Abruptly, and without saying a word, Hermione got up and left the compartment. I gave Seamus an apologetic look. "I should follow her," I murmured.

Without waiting for his reply, I strode down to the farthest compartment, where I knew she would be. She wasn't, however, and the reason for that was clear. On the glass door of the compartment was a heart with an arrow drawn through it, and the letters 'R+L' written inside it. I raised an eyebrow at Ron, who avoided my gaze, before swiping the sleeve of my sweater across the design. Ron looked mildly annoyed, and I mouthed, "Oops."

Feeling reckless, I walked to the compartment I knew Draco was in. I strode by it only once, in the direction of the compartment he'd always pulled me into before. I slipped inside of the empty room and waited impatiently for him.

Not even a full minute later, the door slid open to reveal pale gray eyes and unruly white-blonde hair. I was suddenly at a loss for words, all courage gone. Draco didn't seem to notice or care. "Felicity," he breathed, before enveloping me in a hug. His chin rested on the top of my head, and I clung to him, inhaling his scent.

Before I pulled away, out of his arms completely. "Why didn't you tell me?" I asked, allowing some of my hurt to show, "Why are there suddenly all these things that you're keeping from me?" Hypocrite, hypocrite, hypocrite.

He looked pained. "I just- I can't, Fel. This is a war, and. . . I have to believe that we'll get through this. This relationship, us, you. I need it all." It wasn't the answer I was looking for, and raised even more questions, but I just smiled and allowed him to kiss me in the hidden compartment.

Hermione hadn't come to the Christmas Eve party that the Weasley's threw, for obvious reasons, but I wished she had, so I wouldn't be hearing this bullshit on my own. "Well, you heard wrong, Harry," I seethed. "Felicity," Harry reasoned, "He practically admitted to almost killing Katie! He wants to fulfill whatever task Voldemort gave him; he's eager!" I tried to keep my voice down, as Harry had dragged me into Percy's vacant room for this pleasant discussion, which wasn't too far from everyone else.

"He is not! He doesn't want this, Harry," I snapped quietly. Harry raised his brows and took a step closer. "And you know that for sure? It's not just your love for him that's blinding you?" he challenged, "Because I think you just want to believe that he's good. That you have it under control, that when the time comes, he'll pick you instead of his family and Lord Voldemort. But, Felicity, that's not how it's going to happen."

I stilled, so frozen by my rage, only because he was completely and utterly correct. When I spoke, my voice was cool and indifferent. "Glad to know you're a seer now, Harry. I'll add it to your list of titles. Harry Potter: The Boy Who Lived, Professional Seer, and Ultimate Arse of a Best Friend."

I pushed past him before he could see the tears welling up in my eyes or say anything else that might make me punch him. I dried my eyes and plastered on a fake smile before returning to the party.

I stood by the door, bidding Remus and Tonks farewell. I was still distracted, thinking about what Harry said before Tonks's voice interrupted my train of thought. "Remus, sweetheart?" she asked, placing a hand on his bicep. He showed no sign of hearing her, and only continued staring out into the field of tall, swaying golden grass that surrounded the Weasley household.
