Felicity's POV
I waited anxiously for Harry to arrive, pacing back and forth. I ended up standing near the window, watching for Moody and Tonks and everyone else on the rescue mission to come back with my best friend in tow.
Finally, they landed, all of them with brooms in hand. I let out a sigh of relief. "They're back," I announced. Mione bolted straight up from her position on the bed and tossed her book down. She was reading another one about wizarding laws.
We waited in a tense silence for a minute, and the second Harry opened the door, Hermione tackled him in a hug. "Are you alright?" she demanded as soon as she pulled away, "We overheard them talking about the Dementor attack. You must tell us everything." Ron shook his head. "Let the man breathe, Hermione," he said. Mione ignored him, continuing. "And this hearing at the Ministry, it's just outrageous! I've looked it up. They simply can't expel you. It's completely unfair."
"Fairness doesn't matter to the Ministry right now," I said, brushing past Hermione to hug Harry. "So, what is this place?" he asked, looking around. "It's headquarters," Ron explained unhelpfully. "Of the Order of the Phoenix. It's a secret society," Mione elaborated. I chipped in, saying, "Dumbledore formed it back when they fought Voldemort the first time. Our parents were in it."
Harry turned to us, a barely masked expression of bitterness on his face. "Couldn't have put any of this in a letter, I suppose?" he asked, staring down each one of us in turn. "I've gone all summer without a scrap of news," he added. It was awkwardly quiet until Ron spoke. "We wanted to write, mate," he said uneasily, "Really, we did. Only..." "Only what?" Harry snapped. Hermione piped up, her words almost too fast to decipher. "Only Dumbledore made us swear not to tell you anything."
There was another pause before Harry said, "Dumbledore said that?" He sounded a little hurt. "But why would he want to keep me in the dark? Maybe I could help. I'm the one who saw Voldemort return, I'm the one who fought him, who saw Cedric Diggory get killed." I winced at the reminder, and Harry's eyes landed on me, his expression softening. "Felicity-" he began, before a loud crack interrupted him.
The twins were suddenly by Harry's shoulder and he jumped in surprise. I found myself rolling my eyes. Now that they could both Apparate and perform magic outside of Hogwarts, that was their main form of transportation. "Harry!" they greeted cheerfully. "Thought we heard your dulcet tones," Fred said with a wink. "Don't bottle it up, though, mate," George advised, "Let it out." "And if you're all done shouting," Fred began. "Do you wanna hear something a little more interesting?" George finished with a sly smirk.
We gathered at the stairwell, Alana joining us, as the twins lowered their creation to the ground. It was a large ear, only a little smaller than my palm, connected to a speaker sort of device by a long wire. Instantly, it began picking up parts of the conversation.
"If anyone has a right to know, it's Harry," Sirius was saying. Harry perked up as he continued, "If it wasn't for Harry, we wouldn't even know Voldemort was back. He's not a child, Molly." Mrs. Weasley's protective voice sounded from the speaker, "But he's not an adult either. He's not James, Sirius." Sirius retorted stubbornly, "Well, he's not your son." I could almost hear Molly Weasley's anger. "He's as good as," she snapped, "Who else has he got?"
Ginny joined us as well, smiling her greeting to Harry. Sirius' voice interrupted my thoughts. "He's got me," he said with a tone of finality. "How touchingly paternal, Black," a new voice drawled, "Perhaps Potter will grow up to be a felon, just like his godfather." Sirius fired back quickly, "Now, you stay out of this, Snivellus." Harry's head whipped over to us. "Snape's part of the Order?"
I nodded, holding back a grimace of irritation. I still despised that man. Suddenly, a burst of static came through the speaker, and I looked down to see Hermione's cat, Crookshanks, batting at the fake ear. "Crookshanks!" Mione whispered loudly, "Stop it!" George was muttering as he tried to pull up the ear. "Get off, you bloody cat," he said, glaring down at the feline. Finally, the cat succeeded in pulling the ear from the wire. Fred sighed, saying, "Hermione, I hate your cat." Hermione only scolded her pet. "Bad Crookshanks!"
