Felicity's POV

"Please don't, Fel," Neville begged, "You guys can't leave now. Not when Hogwarts needs you most. Not when I need you most."

My vision swam with tears. I knew I shouldn't have told Neville about mine, Hermione, Ron, and Harry's plan to seek out the Horcruxes so early before we'd leave. "Neville," I started, "We have to go. The fate of the world literally depends on it. And in the meantime... I'm gonna need you to be a leader at Hogwarts. Help people, stand up to the bad guys, fight for what's right. The students will need someone to look to." He hung his head, defeated, and sighed. "Please," he tried one last time. I just shook my head and pulled him into a tight hug that seemed to last an eternity. "I'll come back, Nev," I whispered, "I swear it."

"Okay, let's do this," I said to Hermione, only slightly jittery. I gripped onto my wand tightly and closed my eyes, focusing. Suddenly, the feeling of being squeezed through an immensely narrow tube enveloped me. I tried to calm my breathing, and within seconds I had Apparated from Hermione in my room upstairs to Neville in the kitchen downstairs. "Yes, Fel!" Nev cheered, steadying my swaying body.

I repaid his support by vomiting on his shoes.

"Ew, Felicity!"

"I'm sorry," I moaned, stumbling to a chair. Along with the ringing in my ears, I heard the low pop sound of Hermione Apparating flawlessly a few feet away from me. She barely avoided the vomit before making a face and waving her wand, muttering a spell under her breath. In a moment, the evidence of my inexperience had vanished.

"Why are you so good at everything," I groaned, trying to stop my vision from spinning. Hermione just laughed. "Lots of practice?" she suggested mildly. I flashed her a middle finger and she chuckled. It was nice to see something besides a frown on my best friend's face.

She had recently decided that, with the war that the entire world could possibly be decimated in, it was safer for her parents not to be associated with her, or to know about wizardry at all. She would wipe their memories of her completely, of the last 17 years of her life, to keep the ones she loved safe. I admired her so much for that.

Meanwhile I'm still pining over a guy that betrayed me, almost killed my Headmaster, before one of his 'friends' did, and hasn't spoken to me in weeks. Wonderful.

"You'll get it eventually," Neville said helpfully, patting my back and snapping me out of my thoughts. I grimaced. "Thanks, Nev. I'm trying," I reached up and placed my hand over his, squeezing. Even though it was only a couple weeks into summer, Nev and I had spent hours of every day just enjoying each others company, quizzing each other on spells, practicing Apparating, talking about Mom and Dad, and discussing the best and worst Quidditch teams in the league. Growing even closer with him was the best thing to happen to me all year.

I just wish it hadn't happened under the constant threat of death from Voldemort.

"Well, try again," Mione said authoritatively. "Yes, Your Majesty," I replied sarcastically.

I woke up to a familiar owl pecking at my window, but... no. No way. I sprung out of bed at the sight of Draco's pet. I threw my window open, trying to contain my excitement. I was, after all, supposed to hate him, now more than ever.
