3: The Starters

Drayko gives his uncle Arbor a friendly hug. Arbor smells of fresh peppermint. "I'm very happy you made it here alright. But Drayko, are you with that draconian?", Professor Arbor asked, still very suspicious of Jake. "You could say Jake is an acquaintance, uncle Arbor", Drayko replied.

Arbor sighed. "Welcome to the lab then. Don't touch anything or go near anything!". A purple feline Pokémon with a few sharp hairs pointed up comes into the lobby. It is rather small and young-looking. Almost like a kitten. It's pink eyes look up at the 3.

"Wow! Who's that Pokémon?", Drayko asked with excitement as he never seen a Pokémon like this back in Hoenn. Arbor picks the Pokémon up and he strokes its head. "This is Poitten. A poison type Pokémon", Arbor said with a smile as he puts Poitten down. Drayko's mother would never let her son go near almost any Pokémon with the exception of her Misdreavus, so it's odd how mom is very fine with Drayko going to Coex.

"I've got something very special for you, Drayko. Follow me", Arbor goes into his main research floor where there is tons of advanced technologies. However, at the end of the room is a table where 3 pokeballs reside. On each pokeball, there is a different color light shining upon it. Red, blue, and green. Arbor begins heading to the stand. Meanwhile, Jake is wandering throughout the lab.

"Jake! Either stay with us or get out the lab!", Arbor said strictly. Jake scurried his way to him and Drayko where they are now in front of the pokeballs. "These 3 Pokémon are the official Coex starters. I think you're responsible enough to take one on your journey. You can choose any of the 3. Orqua: a water type, Pyrarie: a fire type, and lastly Cocoala: a grass type".

Arbor takes the 3 pokeballs and throws them high up into the air, sending out the Pokémon. They stand in front of Drayko. Orqua resembles a small orca with 2 stubby legs. The Pokémon's skin is a shining Lapis blue in color and it's underbelly is black. Pyrarie looks like a prairie dog with red fur and it's long tail has a flame design. Cocoala looks like a koala bear with green fur and it's cheeks are brown as a coconut and so is its underbelly.

"Wow! They're all so cute!", Drayko said amazed. "Which one will you choose?", asked Arbor. The 3 Pokémon look up at Drayko. He knew that he had to only choose one, but the choice seems very hard since they all look so cute and unique. However, there was one Pokémon that really seemed fond with Drayko.

That Pokémon's cyan colored eyes sparkled as it looked up at Drayko and smiled, waiting for him to become its new trainer. It saw through Drayko, and it could tell he was a great trainer at heart.

"Uncle Arbor, I've made my decision", Drayko said as he smiled at his chosen Pokémon...
