8: Showdown at the Simex City Gym!

Drayko, Violet, and Jake walk into the gym's lobby and they are greeted by the cool artificial breeze and the sweet smell that the flora and fauna inside are emitting. Ronald walks into the lobby and he is happy to see them. "Well hey there! Come to challenge me, I see. If you haven't noticed, I specialize in bug type Pokémon", Ronald said with enthusiasm. "Let's get this show on the road!", Drayko said.

Ronald, Drayko, Jake, and Violet walk into the battlefield where many trees stood high. Their leaves were a rich green and there were a few carnivorous plants strangely. Those plants were large enough to fit a human inside. The whole battlefield smelled of the same sweet scent from the lobby.

Violet and Jake went to a viewing area and sat down on the bench. "We're rooting for you! Good luck Drayko!", Violet said. A referee comes out onto the battlefield.

"The battle between Ronald of the Simex City gym and Drayko is about to commence! Each opponent will choose only 2 Pokémon at their disposal. The opponent with all their Pokémon fainted will make the other the victor of the match. Let the battle begin!", the referee said and he backs away to watch.

"I hope you have some strategy, Drayko. Time to shine, Pineco!", Ronald said enthusiastically as he threw the pokeball, sending out Pineco. Drayko scanned Pineco with the Pokédex.

"Pineco: the bagworm Pokémon. A bug type. It adds layers of bark on its body, acting like a shell. Pineco makes its home far up in trees, hanging from its branch. This Pokémon's preferred trees are conifers and can explode upon contact with the ground if they fall out the tree".

"You go first. You've helped save the city after all", Ronald said with a smile. Drayko commanded Orqua to use watergun. Pineco dodges and uses tackle and takes a hit at Orqua.

"Use water gun on Pineco again!", Drayko said as Orqua shot out its powerful jet of water. It made a direct hit on Pineco and it fell to the ground. "Now use tackle before it gets up!", Drayko said. Orqua charges its tackle and knocks Pineco to the ground.

"Don't give up, Pineco! Use bug bite!", Ronald said. Pineco clings onto Orqua and bites it directly on the neck. Orqua yells in pain and uses water gun as directed by Drayko. Pineco faints.

"Pineco is unable to battle. Orqua is the winner!", the referee said. "Pineco, return. Rest well", Ronald said and kisses the pokeball lightly. "I've still got 1 left. Come on out, Ulifly!", Ronald said and sends out Ulifly.

"You remember Ulifly from before, I'm assuming", Ronald said with a grin. Drayko nodded. "Orqua, use tackle!". Orqua charges towards Ulifly. "Use confusion", Ronald said very calmly. Orqua has a cyan aura around it as it's picked off the ground and slammed against the ground. "Quick, use water gun!", Drayko commanded. Orqua uses its water gun attack, but Ulifly dodges the attack. "Great work, Ulifly! Now use stun spore!". Ulifly flutters it's wings and a sparkly yellow powder lands upon Orqua. It collapses onto the ground, unable to move.

"Poor Orqua is paralyzed...", Violet said to Jake. "Get up Orqua! Don't give up!", Drayko said. Orqua barely stands up and has trouble moving its arms and legs. "Use water gun!". Orqua uses all its might to overcome the paralysis and shoots its water gun at Ulifly, causing a direct hit. "Shake it off, Ulifly. Now use sleep powder". Ulifly flutters it's wings once again and sprinkles a green powder upon Orqua. Its eyes become very heavy and collapses into a slumber.

"Orqua, no! Wake up!", Drayko yelled but Orqua was out cold. "Finish it off with confusion!". Ulifly picked up Orqua with confusion and slams it against the wall. Orqua faints. Drayko looked at it in sadness.

"Orqua is unable to battle. Ulifly is the winner. Therefore, Ronald is the victor of the match!", the referee said. "Orqua, return...you've gave it all you got", Drayko said and sends back Orqua. Ronald sends back Ulifly and walks up to Drayko. "You did great. You can come back for a rematch anytime, Drayko", Ronald said, smiling. The 2 shook hands and Drayko walked away. Violet and Jake walk with him.

"You need more of a strategy. I suggest you get a flying type. There's plenty of bird Pokémon in Densissima Forest. Drayko, Jake, and Violet walked out of the gym and to the nearest Pokémon center that wasn't too far away from the gym. Jake and Drayko gave their Orqua and Scalaby respectively to the nurse at the counter. "Your Pokémon should be better in about an hour. Please wait by then. Also Drayko, I believe you've gotten a call from your mother. It sounded urgent", the nurse said and she goes into the room in the back.

"Urgent...", Drayko said as he went to a holophone booth. Drayko called his mother and she picked up within 2 seconds. On the projection had Drayko's mother crying.

"YOU ARE COMING HOME THIS INSTANT!", Drayko's mom demanded.
