Chapter 31 - Unreal
"You're staying with us for a week? When you told me about the deal, it was only a day." Ruby asked once I was finally calm and stopped crying.
After we both processed what happened the burger joint, we ended up walking back to where my stuff was.
"Marcus was nice enough to convince everyone to change it. They thought it was unfair for me to have so little time with you."
"Well thank god. I don't think I could stand only one day every month. I would endure two weeks of my period if it meant you would be with me."
"Well, I'm enduring harassment and cleaning so you won't be with me."
Cue the silence.
"Sometimes I wish none of this was real." Ruby sighed.
"Yeah... Sometimes I have dreams about how everything is back to normal; Trixy and dad would be alive, and The Boys were more of just best friends instead of kidnappers. Mason wouldn't..." I paused, realizing that Ruby doesn't know about my bullying. "... have to be so... nice to me."
Ruby looked at me with something I couldn't figure out. It looked like sympathy, but that wouldn't make sense.
"Did Mason... bully you?"
I choked. "Whaaaaaaaaaat...? Of course not! I don't know what you're talking about. Where did you get something like that?"
Ruby sighed. "Lissa, I have to tell you something." Ruby looked to at the floor. "The Boys... they um... they were with me when you called."
I choked again. "What!?"
"They um... they came over to the house and told me that you escaped. And they asked me to help them find you."
"And you did?"
"I didn't at first! T-they said they were worried about you, because of what happened with Trixy. Then, I said that I knew you and knew that you could defend yourself."
I stayed silent, not knowing how to respond to any of this.
"Ray said that you were bullied and cut yourself." She started to tear up. "I'm so sorry, Lissa. I-I had to help after that. When I heard what happened, all I could think about was what happened with Trixy. I shouldn't have helped them. And now you have to go back with them."
I stopped her and brought her into a hug. "It's okay, Ruby. I would've done the same if I was in your situation. The Boys aren't that bad anyways. I mean, I don't like it there, but I'm sure it's better than a lot of places..." I sighed. "I'll have a chat with Ray about him saying stuff about my personal life though."
"Oh... And one more thing." Ruby said, wiping tears from her face. "I might have told Justin about you being a maid..."
My face paled. "Justin... OH SHIT."
I completely forgot about Justin. He was supposed to watch my stuff while I was with Ruby.
I grabbed Ruby's wrist and we ran to the place I stayed. "Justin, why are you still here?? Why did you wait hours just to watch my things??"
Justin stood up and grinned. "I said I would watch your stuff, didn't I?" I pulled Ruby into his vision and his smile grew. "Ruby!"
Justin ran up to her and hugged her. She tensed and pushed him as fast as she could from embarrassment. I smirked at the two.
"See? She's tolerating me a little." Justin grinned.
Ruby looked away as her face turned crimson.
