Chapter 33 - The Reasoning Behind The Slap
~Time Skip~
This week is going by faster than I'd like. It's already Thursday. I have three more days until Sunday and I'm getting worried.
Nothing special happened over the past two days. Mason has been talking to me more; flirting every so often. It's just proving that my theory is right which is making me more uncomfortable.
Justin and Ruby are still protective at lunch and Mason has managed to scooch is ass next to me while Ruby and Justin stare him down like hawks.
Ruby knew he was my bully after I explained everything to her, and Justin is just wary of him for some other reason.
I had more conversations with The Boys. Jordan and I planned our prank a bit more, I taught Ray how to type every emoji that I'm aware exists, and Marcus and I had actual adult conversations.
Honestly, it's really weird how I can talk to them so casually.
Same with Mason. He acts like he was never the cause of most of my cuts. But then again, it's nice that we don't have to be awkward when we're near each other.
I was currently in 2nd period. The period where Ray came in and knocked out Mr. Strawser.
Mr. Strawser quit being a teacher after that day. I don't blame him though. That was some traumatizing shit.
Imagine it in his eyes: You're teaching your students today's lessons and then a man comes in with a gun. He's aiming for one student in particular, but you're holding him back. So he knocks you out and you wake up finding out that the student went missing the next day.
The guilt is probably eating away at him from the inside-out.
Mason and Ruby were also in this class, but Ruby told me she switch schedules so she didn't have to remember what happened.
It was for the best.
We've had this nice substitute ever since that time, Mr. Franklin. He just graduated college and wants to be a singer when he gets older. Whenever we're especially good, he sings for our class. It's nice to listen to.
Of course, Mr. Strawser was much better. He was always teasing students and comparing himself to Brad Pitt. He was obviously joking though. Everyone knew it.
Unless he was just that cocky...
Anyways, Mr. Franklin was nice enough to let us move next to friends. I didn't have many friends in this class so I stayed in my seat.
But you know, being the quiet girl who's been missing for weeks and randomly shows up again out of nowhere, almost everyone wanted to sit with me.
Even that new girl, Lucy. She didn't even know who I was but was still asking. I guess the Big News got around or something.
I sat there in fear, hoping that fate would lay out itself instead of me having to choose.
Mason squeezed through the crowd and sat next to me. "Melissa and I have already planned to be partners, everyone. Find someone else."
Wow, I never thought that I would ever say that it was relieving to have my bully sit next to me.
My breathing quickened as I started to hear whispering, rumors already beginning and conclusions already being made.
"Do you think they're dating?"
"I think they're secret fuck buddies."
"He's probably horny from that Instagram picture."
