Destiny's Choice

Chapter 1

AIRPORT

Ghad! Where are they? What’s taking them so long? I've been waiting here for 10 whole minutes. Did they forget to pick me up in the airport on purpose?

Anyway, I'm Celine Ysabell Craine. I'm 16 years old. I'm an incoming 4th year high school student. Actually, I grew up in New York but my dad wanted me to go home here in the Philippines because of some unknown reasons. Ugh! Pero marunong naman ako mag-tagalog.

15 minutes na ang nakalipas. Ghad! Nauubusan nako ng pasensya. Where the heck are they?

“Celine!”

Sabay kaway naman sila. Lumapit naman ako habang tinutulok ang cart ng mga gamit ko.

“For pete sake couz! Where have you been? I've been waiting here for 15 whole minutes. Wait, make that 20.” I said as I cross my arms.

“Sorry couz! Itong kasing si Vincent ang bagal mag-drive. Na-traffic pa kami.” Sabi naman ni Vallerie na pinsan ko.

“Ako nanaman sinisi mo! Tumigil ka nga dyan, Vallerie!” kontra naman ni Vincent na pinsan ko din.

“Okay! This is not the right time to have a couzin-fight okay? Let's go na!” reklamo ko sabay hila kay Vallerie.

“Mag-pinsan nga kayo ni Vallerie! Ang reklamo niyo!” sabi naman ni Vincent. Naglakad nakami nun papuntang parking lot.

“Pinsan ka rin namin!” sabay naming sigaw ni Vallerie sa kanya.

“Oo na! Talo nako sa inyong dalawa!” sabay simangot naman ni Vincent.

“Matagal na noh!” sagot naman ni Vallerie.

“Oo nga pala, Cy. Naalala mo pa ba yung kababata mo? Nathan ba pangaln nun?” tanong naman ni Vincent ng makarating kami sa kotse.

“Oo! Nathan Christopher.” At kinompleto pa ni Vallerie. Tsk!

“Why? Does he still exist in this world?!” tanong ko ng pasigaw.

 

“Ano ka ba, Celine! Wag mo naman patayin yung tao!” sabi ni Vincent sakin habang nagda-drive.

“Laki yata ng galit mo kay Nathan at pinapatay mo na?” tanong naman ni Vallerie.

“Ugh! Nevermind!” sabi ko sabay irap. Tss!

“Anyway, kaklase mo pala si Nathan this coming school year!” napatingin naman ako kay Vincent with matching shock na shock na fez.

“WHAT?! NO WAAAAY!!” sigaw ko. Juicemiyoooo! Joke ba yon?!

“Yes way! Tsaka ano bang meron sa inyong dalawa ni Nathan ha?”  sabay lingon sakin ni Vallerie sa backseat. Inirapan ko lang sya. Arrgghh!

“You don't need to know! Anyway, wala na ba akong mas matinong kaklase besides from Nathan?”

“Umm.. si Malcolm!” sabay ngiti ni Val at tingin saken.

“Malcolm who?” sabay taas ko ng kilay.

“Malcolm Ferrera. Mabait yun. Classmate ko last year.”

“At! Crush rin ni Vallerie!” singit naman ni Vincent.

“Dati yun noh! Di na ngayon!”

“Palusot!” sabay belat pa ni Vincent.

“Okay, enough of that! Kelan pasukan?” tanong ko.

“On monday!” sabi ni Vallerie sabay ngiti ng nakakaloko saken.

“What?! Didn't you know that today is Saturday and that Monday is like two days from now? Now tell me, how will I prepare??” and I panicked. 

“Don't worry! First day palang naman sa monday eh. You only have to bring 1 notebook, a pen and yourself.” Sabi ni Vallerie.

“I'm so nervous! Alam nyo ba yon?” 

“We do! It's your first time to study here in the Philippines right?” umeenglish na sagot ni Vincent.

“Yup!”

“Well, goodluck to you!”

Vincent and Vallerie are my cousins from my mother's side.

Nagdrive naman si Vincent hanggang sa bahay namin ng family ko. Dun muna magi-stay sina Vallerie and Vincent habang wala pa sina mommy at daddy. Ayoko kaya ng katulong at driver lang ang kasama ko sa bahay.

Habang nag-drive si Vincent. Tahimik lang kami.

“Oo nga pala, Celine. Kailan uuwi sina tita't tito dito?” biglang tanong ni Vincent.

“Actually, I'm not expecting them to follow me here in the Phils.”

“Why?” tanong ni Val.

“Their both busy with their business. They don't even notice me anymore. We only see each other 2-3 times a month. Sometimes, once a month lang. Ugh!” reklamo ko. Tss! Totoo naman e.

“Just understand them. They're doing it for you. It's for your own good.” Sabi ni Vallerie.

“Tsssss.” Sabi ko sabay irap uli.

Pero ewan ko ba bat d talaga mapalagay tong si Vincent at nangulit.

“Ano ba talaga ang meron sa inyo ni Nathan?”
