Chapter 35. It's 4am

Brody's p.o.v.

I wake up to knocking on my bedroom door. Bella and I had fallen asleep hours ago. Some how I had rolled on top of her and wrapped myself around her like I hold my body pillow. She's about the size of it, but I'm also 6'4 to her 5'3. But as I get off her, she starts to look cold and curls into a ball. I wrap the blanket around her. I walk over and unlock my bedroom door.

Jase is looking at me confused. I don't have my door open all the way. I slowly step out leaving the light off in my room. I didn't realize the house had gotten that much cooler during the night. I close the door behind me as Jase is now trying to look into my room.

"You know it's kinda late or I guess really early depending on how you look at it?" I say to him.

"Yea... I didn't mean to be out so long. You wouldn't believe who was at the party."

"What party?"

"Scott's party. He kind of unitentionally threw one. The football team was over his after practice and then more and more people showed up. I thought you would of came with your friends."

"Nobody said anything."

"That's weird. I know I saw Tyler and the rest of them. What did you do all night then?"

"I hung out with Bella."

"Who?"

"Lani. We didn't really do much. Just watched telly, ate dinner, talked, and got all our homework done.. I still can't believe Tyler or the rest of the guys went out together and didn't tell me." I say feeling pissy. I turn around and go back in my room. I grab Bella's and my phone. I know her password so I can check her phone out. I grab a hoodie and throw it on. I shut the door behind me. Jase is still standing outside my door.

"Let's grab something to eat, I'm hungry again." I tell him. He follows me downstairs but I look back to see him looking at my door.

"You know they want her back. I don't know how long you will be able to keep her for." Jase says quietly.

"What do you mean?"

"Chase cornered me at the party. That's what I was trying to tell you. They don't usually come to our parties. You know that. But I was outside smoking with a couple guys and Chase told me that it's time to send her home. I didn't even know she was still here. Alex  was with him. I'm pretty sure they were there looking for her. Tyler came over, told them that they should go and if she wanted to come home she would of. I pushed Tyler away and then told Chase that he could fuck off. That there's no way that he would be seeing her again. Brody are you interested in her?" Jase asks me. I take the calzones out of the fridge and put them in the oven. I stand here thinking about it.

"I really like her but not like that. We really have a lot in common and it's really easy being around her. If I had a little sister or could choose a little sister it would be her. She is almost two years younger than us. But she's as damaged as me and we kinda are the same."

"Where did all the food come from?"

"Oh we went grocery shopping. I didn't even know people did that. I thought you just ordered that stuff. She bought it all, I didn't know what to get." I tell him and he starts laughing. I took the calzones out of the oven. I know how to heat things up, reason we have all the frozen pizzas. I put the calzones on plates and hand him one. I sit on the stool next to him.

"Why didn't you just use the card?"

"She said that she wanted to do something nice for me since I was nice to her. She's really a nice person. She already promised not to leave me."

"Not to leave you?" He asks and takes his first bite.

"Yeah. I'm tired of being here by myself all the time. I don't think she will go back. I know her mom might try and make her."

"I'm sorry Brody. I can be around more if you want. These are really good." He says as I go thru her phone. I notice that she ignored her text messages from everyone earlier while she was with me and I know she didn't use her phone earlier. She made me her focus. It makes me smile that she decided spending time with me was more important. I see messages from almost all her contacts except her father. I think that's the one she would of answered.

"You don't have to. She chose me over everyone else already. But I kinda want you to stay away from her. You freaked her out. What was up with you kissing her? Chase just broke it off with her and she doesn't know you."

"I didn't realize she was really hot when people talked about her. She is really good looking and I figured she would be a bitch like the girls that they usually date. I've known Chase and Alex just as long as you. I might not be friends with them but I see the girls that hang out with them. I was not expecting her. You never told me about her. How long have you known her?"

" Half the summer. Tyler met her and wouldn't shut up about her. Usually he just moons over Natalie. But I met her the day we went to soccer camp. Then once Tyler knew where to find her, we were going over Chase and Alex's all the time. I'm not really surprised that they want her back. Alex was waiting for her when we left practice. She was crying on the way here. She thought she was hiding it but I'm sure that's why everyone left. You didn't see how possessive Chase was over her. He was always touching her in someway. He was very careful who got near her. Even when she played soccer with us. Anytime one of us went near her playing he made sure he was between us even though he was on the other team. He was always watching everything she did, where she went. Something else is going on for him to be pushing her away. He's still trying to control her without her knowing. That's why Alex showed up. He must realize he's losing her. Then to the party. Alex sent her twenty texts and she didn't answer. I bet they thought they would grab her at the party and bring her home." I tell him and now I'm positive that Chase let her go for a reason that we don't know. I can't help but wonder.

"You know I wonder if Tonya has something to hold over his head. This all started after the fight."

"That's right, I forgot that was her. Brody your friend gets hotter the more you talk about her. You know she's my type."

"Jase, she has a pussy. Their all your type."

"No, Brody. She's hot, she's kind of a bad ass, she's actually fun, and she's not really fake. "

"Jase, she's young, extremely smart to the point that she's in all my advance classes and they put her a year ahead. She's a closet nerd like me. She found all my Harry Potter stuff, comic books, and action figures. Her only question was could we dress up when comic con comes up. She is just like me but a girl and shorter. We had a good night doing nothing. We even have tomorrow planned out. Please don't ruin this on me. I don't want her leaving."

"She won't leave because of me. I still want her though. Did your friends message you?" He asks as I look thru my phone.

"Tyler, but all he wrote was that we will talk tomorrow. But he messaged Lani a couple times. I just didn't read them. I figured I would read her messages if she already saw them but since she didn't bother opening them I'm assuming she didn't want to hang out with everyone."

"She will stay your best friend. You have nothing to worry about. Tyler might because he just got replaced." Jace says laughing.

"Maybe. I'm going back to bed."

"What's it like sleeping with her?"

"An extra body pillow. She's so short that the pillow might be taller."

"Well we are like giants to some. I'm going to be going after her Brody. You two are just friends so I'm not poaching, who knows maybe I can make her the sister you always wanted." Jase says looking at me with a wink at the end as he headed out. I just roll my eyes at him and go back to bed.
