Chapter 4 - Wedding Announcement

(POV Elijah)

Luke Markus Torres, my father seldom calls me on my phone. Kaya gulat na gulat ako nang makita ko ang pangalan ni daddy sa caller ID habang nagdridrive ako ng sasakyan pauwi sa bahay.

"Hi, Dad!" I cheerfully greeted him on the phone, though I know may problema kaya siya tumawag.

"Son, I am certain you heard the news this morning. I received tons of phone calls and I don't even know how to answer them. Elijah, are you out of your mind? You are engaged to this woman and I do not have any idea about this?"

"Hello to you too, Dad!"

"I am serious about this. Mauuna ka pa mag-asawa kay Matthew? Alam mo naman na ikaw ang inaasahan ng lolo mo na magtatake over sa company niya."

My older brother Matthew does not want to involve himself with my grandfather's company. Pareho sila ni daddy na mas gusto mamahala ng plantation at bukirin ng mga Torres sa probinsya. 

Ginagalang ko naman ang kagustuhan ni Matthew at dahil doon, lolo asked me to study business management para ako mag handle ng company niya. Hindi ko naman tinanggihan ang matanda dahil katulong ko naman ang kapatid ko na si Vienna.

"Dad, chill. Tatanda ka lalo sa stress."

An early morning call from my buddy Etienne ang nagpasira ng araw ko. Apparently, ang current girlfriend ko na si Adrianna ay nagpa presscon para sa upcoming wedding namin. Di ko alam kung saan nakuha ng babaeng ito na gusto ko siya pakasalan. Assuming masyado.

By the sound of dad's voice, he is really upset about this news. Dad suffered from a mild stroke a few months ago. Hindi maganda sa health niya ang mga nakakastress na balita.

"You are not even a college graduate yet. Don't you dare to tell me that she is pregnant!"

"Dad, can you calm down please? Baka marinig ka ng mga alaga mong palay at malanta dahil sa black aura mo. Trust me, hindi ako magpapakasal, walang kasal na magaganap. You are overreacting," I tried my best to sound convincing as much as possible.

"Overreacting? The whole world knows about your upcoming wedding."

"Dad, please trust me. She is not pregnant. Gawa gawa lang niya yung mga chismis na yan. I don't know her game play, but there will be no wedding bells any soon. Don't worry, I am into it. Call me later, I am driving."

"Make sure to fix this, son. Your girlfriend has been busy announcing to the media about your relationship lately."

Dad never meddles with my previous affairs; however, he was not elated when Adrianna disclosed to the press that we are both engaged.

Kilala ko si daddy, alam ko ayaw niya kay Adrianna. He thinks na ginagamit lang ako ni Adrianna to gain more popularity and to enter showbusiness. Kahit si mommy at ang mga kapatid ko, hindi sila pakialamera sa lovelife ko, pero I can feel that they don't like Adrianna.

Hindi ko sila masisisi. Kahit ako, sobrang badtrip ko nung malaman ko yung ginawang announcement ni Adrianna. Adrianna is a goddess, both with her looks and in bed. Pero hindi ko siya mahal para pakasalanan siya.

Am I such a jerk for using her? Yep, I think so.

I think I was cursed to never find my one true love. Sa mundong ginagalawan ko, hindi ko na alam kung sino talaga ang nagmamahal sa akin ng totoo.

Di ko kasi alam kung pera lang ba ng pamilya ko ang habol ng mga babae sa akin. Buti pa si Kuya Matthew, may nagmamahal sa kanya ng totoo, ang bestfriend niya since highschool na si Ate Angeline.
