Forty-one

Harry felt rage surging through his veins. He could literally see red. Everything has a red tint to it. He balled up his fists tired to push the anger away.

"Harry listen to me. You can't hurt anyone. You'll get arrested." Sirius said

"Harry listen to me." Draco said

Harry turned to Draco and the anger softened slightly

"You can't go around hurting everyone who hurts me. He's going to get what's coming to him. You remember what the dementors are like. He won't be able to get away from them." Draco said

Harry nodded and kept his eyes on Draco. Harry still felt like hurting someone but it wasn't as consuming after hear a bit of reason.

"Good on you Draco. You found out just how to deal with him." Remus chuckled

"Reasoning isn't actually much. It works for now." Draco shrugged

Sirius and Harry remained quiet.

"Well I guess that's his mother in him. But there'll be sometimes when he won't listen to reason. That's James in him. And James bless him was stubborn."

"So I've heard." Harry smiled

"Now that you've calmed down we can get down to business. Draco you'll need to tell us as much of your father's past as you know." Sirius sat down in front of Harry

"Well I know he was a bully from birth. He'd get what he wanted no matter what. He's power hungry. When the death eaters were rising he knew they had power and he wanted it. Mother was terrified on that. She never officially joined the death eaters because she was under the curse most times. I remember her telling me at a very young age that if her true family knew what he was doing to her they'd help."

"By true family I'm guessing she meant myself and her other sister." Sirius said

"I would assume. Now I do know this. My father liked to be feared. He wanted everyone to know he was in charge. I know that he threatened Mum into marriage when they were young. I don't know what he threatened I just know it had to have been big."

"If he threatened her health I may kill him myself." Sirius mumbled. "She was the only one beside Andromeda who didn't hate me."

"I understand family hatred  enough. Must have been nice having them." Harry said

"Draco I hate to ask this in front of Harry but did he ever physically hurt your mother in front of you?" Remus asked

"Not often. Only when he was angry.  I remember the first time it happened. It had happened because she was talking to Andromeda when I was sick. Andromeda had been good with healing and potions and Mum wanted to know what was best to give me. He got furious at this. He hated Andromeda.  Something about the man she married. He ripped the letter out of her hands through it in the fire and hit her. Hard. She fell to the floor in tears holding her cheek. That was the day I knew he was soulless." Draco said

"Hit her because she wanted what was best for her son. Dear god excuse a moment." Sirius stood up clenching his teeth.
"Padfoot don't strain yourself." Remus told him

"I'm sorry I had to ask that of you Draco. We need to know those things." Remus turned to the boy. "Even if it seems like a stupid thing to say we need to hear it all."
Harry grabbed Draco's hand and watched him carefully.
"I understand. I'm grateful you want to help. I'm grateful for what you did the other day. He was sure to have me killed. If you hadn't been there he probably would've done it." Draco said

"No one is going to hurt anyone that close to Harry on my watch. Believe me. He won't lay a finger on you or your mother ever again."
