She didn't expect it so soon, but Elizabeth Arya Barns was a mother.

With Luna, honorary mother of their friend group, being a mess, and Mia being a slightly more put together mess, this left Liz with the task of moming. This meant she went from one girl's room to the other, checking in on them, getting them more tissues, offering chocolate and cuddles. As exhausting as it was, she'd rather the girls be constantly monitored by her than by anybody else.

Eventually she caught a case of cabin fever, the only places she'd been being the house and the corner store. Seeing as Mia had just recently left the house to go to her parents, this left Liz with the task of somehow managing to force Luna out of the house. It wasn't as hard as she expected, all she had to do was take the girl's phone, remote, and sheets, only promising to give them back after they got back from eating a nice meal.

She only felt more like a mom when Luna began whining, forcing Liz to change her clothes for her seeing as Luna really did not want to leave. She practically dragged her friend to the restaurant down the street, Luna grumbling in displeasure.

They were seated instantly, and immediately Liz was glaring at her friend. The whole time she'd been keeping an eye on Luna, she received updates from Harrison. Tom was lucky that he was provided with a distraction in the form of work, not being able to focus on moping and crying like Luna was. What Liz didn't understand was why Luna was moping the way she was, like she was the one that had been dumped, rather than vice versa.

Luna frowned at the sight of her friend's glare, "What?"

Liz shook her head, leaning in slightly. "I don't know if I'm mad at you or not." Luna's frown only deepened at this, and she was thankful the waiter interrupted, not giving her a chance to ask what the girl meant.

They ordered their food, and the two immediately fell into silence. It was beginning to look more like a very awkward date, rather than two friends out for a meal. Luna was squirming beneath Liz's narrowed eyes, having gotten used to the girl cooing at her and hugging her for hours on end. She didn't like feeling as if she was being analyzed, especially not at a time like now where her feelings felt like they were trapped in a glass container just waiting to shatter.

"Tom isn't any better." This made Luna tense up, and she really wished she had her menu so she could hide behind it. Liz watched as the girl swallowed harshly at the mention of the boy, but still she said nothing, making Liz sit up straighter. This was her only chance to ask questions, seeing as Luna wouldn't make a scene of storming away, or bursting into tears. "Why did you do it?" Liz asked softly, and Luna tense shoulders dropped, her eyes darting down to the table. "I know you were the one that ended things Luna, so why are you moping like he ended things?"

Why was she moping like he ended things? Maybe a part of her wished he had been the one to end them. Yet, she was held responsible for her own heartbreak, and she couldn't back out of it now. She couldn't blame Mia, even if it was her words that'd made her think that night. Made her think that maybe history did repeat itself, and her relationship was destined for failure. Made her think that she wasn't near good enough for what Tom deserved to have. Made her think that by saying the words "Don't let that happen to you Luna" that she meant end it while you were still ahead, and save him the trouble. She watched as her friends' relationship fell apart, and the fear of her following suit pushed her to do something she regretted more than anything.

But Luna couldn't have been more wrong. History repeats itself in some cases, but even in Harrison and Mia's case, it wasn't history repeating itself, despite what the girl thought. So her fear was irrational, and most likely nothing but a fear that would never come true. If only she knew that before she made that damn call.

She wanted to call him back, tell him that their break was a stupid result of her acting on instinct, and she missed him more than she'd ever missed anyone before. She wanted him to be beside her in that bed, lying on top of him so they'd only have to use one blanket since both were too lazy to get up and get another. She wanted to purposely dangle a mistletoe above them, and insist that even if it wasn't Christmas just yet, he still had to reward her with a kiss. She wanted to just be with him.

And she told Liz that. She told Liz every little thing that'd been in her thoughts since that talk with Mia, from how she interpreted the words, to her feelings leading up to the dreaded phone call. Liz was frowning throughout the whole thing, knowing that Luna had probably been thinking about this all along, allowing it to eat her alive.

Luna was about to tell Liz how dearly she missed the curly haired boy, but a person cleared their throat beside them. Both girls turned, expecting to see their waiter, but instead it was a male they've never seen before. "Hi," He shot the two a toothy smile, one that Luna politely tried to return, while Liz stared at him blankly. "My friend and I couldn't help but notice you two girls, and wanted to tell you that you're beautiful. Fancy joining us?"

Liz blinked. "I'm gay."

He nodded at this, turning to Luna, "And you?" To the guy, it looked like Luna had gone silent out of amazement, or maybe she wasn't used to compliments from a handsome man like himself and was shy. But to Liz, she could see Luna was too overwhelmed from what she just confessed to inform the guy that she wasn't interested. Before Liz got the chance to step in for her friend, the man was grinning at Luna. "Alright, quiet, I can deal with that. If you ever wanna talk, just call this number."

He dropped a napkin onto Luna's side of the table, even going as far as winking before leaving the two girl's table. Liz was glaring a hole into the back of his head as he walked away, scoffing when he turned back to look at them once more. "I'll never understand the hype of heterosexual males," She mumbled. "What were you saying before Luna?"

Luna stared down at the napkin with numbers scribbled on it, a deep frown on her lips. "I miss Tom," She sighed.

I've told y'all before
Luna thinks too much and it gets in the way of things more times than not, that's just how she is.

and to all the people shitting on luna, PLEASE try and tell me you've never done anything irrational without thinking, then immediately regretted it, because I can guarantee you that you can't say you haven't. It happens to everybody, and just because she's a fictional character, doesn't mean it can't happen to her either.

I love my baby moon girl, she can't help it
