There was very few things that Luna would happily admit to loving more than her boyfriend, and one of them was dogs. Tom knew that when Luna was brought to tears at the sight of the dogs in cages, her hand squeezing his uncomfortably tight. At just about every dog she let out a coo, but none of them seemed to react the way one did.
The dogs typically got very excited, rushing forward, to which Luna let out an excited yelp. The worker would constantly look to Tom whenever she let out a noise, but he assured her that Luna was just very excited.
It was towards the back that they reached a dog, and when Luna cooed at it, it very hesitantly stepped forward. Luna frowned at this as she kneeled down, but still the puppy didn't seem as excited to see her as she was to see it.
"Is he okay?" She questioned, looking back to the woman watching them with a clipboard. Turns out, said puppy was adopted, but then brought back only a week later, the puppy being an unwanted gift. Luna felt her chest tighten, and she knew she had to take this puppy home.
"I love you," She mumbled, pressing a kiss to his head. Tom let out a huff at this, looking away from the road for a split second to see Luna cuddling the puppy close to her. "Don't huff, I love you too Tommy." She lifted up Rocket, holding him close to Tom. "Show Tommy some love Rocket."
Tom chuckled as Rocket licked his cheek, Luna's heart warming at the sight. She brought Rocket back to her lap, the dog sitting up to look out the window. "He is pretty cute," Tom commented, looking over at the two, seeing Luna holding him while Rocket's head was out of the window.
"Of course he's cute, he's our child," She scoffed, petting Rocket's head. "Can he sleep on our bed tonight?"
Tom smiled slightly, our bed. "Yeah, he can," He mumbled, smile widening when Luna grinned. He could see from the corner of his eye that she lifted Rocket, kissing his head once more, before proceeding to tell him the "good news" in a high pitched voice. God, He thought, his hand reaching over to hold hers, which she immediately intertwined. I am in love with this girl.
