Luna was to her neck in preparation.

Tom's 24th birthday party would be happening that night, and though she's been planning it for the past month, it didn't make her any less stressed the day of. In just a few hours her home would be filled with family and friends, all of them there to celebrate the same person. And she needed it to be perfect.

It wasn't only because it was Tom, but because for her 23rd the previous year, he threw the greatest party. It was completely carnival themed, and he even managed to rent a bounce house and cotton candy machine. It's safe to say Luna repaid him that night, once they were alone of course. If he spent his birthday feeling nothing but love swell in his heart like Luna did that day, she would feel accomplished.

Luna screamed loudly when she spotted Liz reaching for a cupcake, Liz immediately jumping back in shock. "Don't touch," Luna mumbled, moving the tray from one side of the kitchen to another.

Harrison was given the task of keeping Tom out of the house while preparations were done, forcing him to occupy the boy for a good few hours. He expected it to be hard, but it seemed Tom already had plans of his own. It's safe to say Harrison wasn't expecting to be walking into a jewelry store on Tom's birthday. At first he was unsure of what they were doing there in the first place, and he looked around the store curiously. Then when he made his way over to where Tom was looking, he lost his breathe.

It's been a good few years since Tom and Luna first began talking, the raunchy tweet that got them together being a beloved memory now. He's had plenty of girlfriends before Luna, but none ever seemed to be serious. He'd never fallen in love before he met her, and he was glad he didn't, because just the thought of being in love with someone other than Luna seemed wrong. He knew he didn't want to be with anybody but her, the euphoria he felt when around her being enough confirmation. So why not solidify that decision?

Harrison finally found his voice, his hand grabbing onto Tom's shoulder. "Really?" He asked incredulously, his eyes darting back to the display case of rings.

Tom nodded, his eyes wandering over the rings of different cuts and sizes. "Really," He replied. If anybody deserved to know they were loved, it was Luna Giraldo. She was someone who'd drive to five different stores just to find the candy you like. She was someone who'd hold your hand just so you know she's always there. She was someone who'd stay up till four in the morning just to make sure you were okay. She was someone who deserved to have a ring around her finger to show that she was forever going to be loved.

"It's never too soon," He decided, lifting his head to look for a worker. He eventually caught the eyes of a woman, flashing her a smile as she began approaching. Harrison watched completely dazed as Tom began talking about Luna to the worker, an overwhelming feeling of happiness in him.

A few hours later, the party was in full swing. Tom got back, almost crashing into a potted plant from how scared he got when the crowd yelled "surprise" as soon as he stepped in. Once his fear subsided, he grinned, shoving the box he was holding into Harrison's hands who stood behind him. Though he'd done it pretty stealthily, there was still one person who saw it.

Mia waited a while to ask what it was, eventually cornering Harrison in the empty kitchen. "Just tell me," She whined. "She's my best friend, I deserve to know."

Luck for him, Tom decided to step in at this moment. He was still laughing at something from the conversation he was just walked away from, but his smile slowly faded when he was met with the overly sweet smile of Mia, and a shaken up looking Harrison. He quickly tried to back out of the room, but Mia rushed forward, grabbing onto his wrist.

"What did you give Harrison when you walked in?" She demanded, and Tom looked to Harrison with wide eyes. He sighed, taking the hand that wasn't being restrained by Mia and pulling the box out of his pocket. Mia immediately dropped his wrist, both hands flying to cover her mouth. "You didn't," She breathed, fighting back the tears that welled in her eyes.

Tom nodded, popping open the box for Mia to see. "I did." It only took a few seconds for Mia to throw her arms around him, a shaky sigh leaving her lips. She didn't let go of him for a minute, fanning her face to prevent the tears from spilling over.

"So do you know when you'll do it?" She questioned, leaning into Harrison as he wrapped an arm around her.

Truth was, he didn't know when he was going to ask her. Was there ever going to be a perfect time to ask such an important question? All he knew was he wanted to do it soon, he wanted to be able to finally say he was going to marry the love of his life.

Later that evening, he found himself beside Luna, after a few hours of being apart. He wrapped his arm around her, bringing her into his side. She let out a yelp when he planted a kiss on her cheek, a smile settling on her lips. "Today's been great," He sighed happily, eyes traveling over his backyard that was occupied by the people most important to him. "You've outdone yourself moonie."

Her smile widened at the use of her nickname, and she shrugged. "It's your day, and you know I'd do anything for you."

Tom bit the inside of his cheek at her words. When would he ever find another girl like the one in front of him? "You know I'd do anything for you, right?" Luna didn't hesitate to nod. "Good. And I mean anything. Like, I love you so much Luna, I'd do anything."

Luna's eyes trailed down to his hands that were now holding hers. "I love you too," She responded, her brows knitting together in confusion.

His eyes looked past Luna, to where Mia and Harrison were watching intently. It's like they could see the gears moving his head, and all Mia had to do was nod rapidly for him to know he was doing the right thing.

"I can't imagine a future without you," He sighed, and Luna watched him, uncertainty swimming in her eyes. "So can I ask for one thing.. as a birthday gift?" She nodded.

For some reason, she expected it to be something silly, like a build up just for him to ask if he could get laid or something. Nothing gave off the impression that it was going to be a proposal, but when he began kneeling, Luna lost her breathe.

By the time his knee touched the ground, all eyes had already turned to them, and Luna was close to tears. She could hear her heartbeat in her ears, and her hands were beginning to shake at her sides.

His heart was racing as he raised the box, shakily opening it. "Luna, will you marry me?"

There was a time in Luna's life where she thought she was destined to be alone. She thought nobody could ever love her if she couldn't even love herself. Her thoughts were plagued by memories of all her break ups, all the failed relationships that made her feel like she wasn't enough. She could hear her boyfriend from when she was 15 telling her she was never going to be married echoing in her head as she nodded rapidly, her tears spilling over. "Yes," She choked out, a smile adorning her features. "Yes, I'll marry you!"
