If I'd had a little more patience,
Maybe then, I wouldn't have spoiled the surprise.

Dan spent most of his afternoons up until Saturday at Kyle's house practicing the five songs they picked out. I spent most of my afternoons at the ice cream parlor.
On Thursday, I was invited over to Zeke's house to meet his parents and his older brother. Turns out, his family liked teasing him, as well--especially his brother, Jared.
We weren't even half way done with the meal when Jared blurted out, "So are you two dating, or what?"
From the corner of my eye, I thought I saw Zeke nearly choke on his food. Evidently, Jared didn't here Zeke introducing me as his friend when I'd arrived. It hurt a little bit, but then I realized that we weren't even dating. And maybe he was embarrassed.
After dinner and a short board game, it was time for me to go home. I still felt a slight buzz of cheer as we hopped into the car and left the driveway; a feeling of satisfaction, I suppose.
Zeke pulled to my house and parked along the curb. "Sorry again for my crazy family," he apologized for the second time that night. He rubbed the back of his neck and gave an apologetic smile.
"Don't worry about it. My family is weird too," I assured him. I reached over and grabbed his hand, bringing his attention away from his worry and instead to looking at me. "Really, though, I had a great time!"
A grin spread across his face. "I'm glad."
I brought my eyes down along with my smile, and silence filled the air for a second. I swallowed the nervousness in my throat. "So, you told you're family that we're friends--which is true! But, do you think of us as...more than friends?" It felt so stupid coming out of my mouth, but I felt like I had to get it out there.
"Of course, Amelia," he said as he slid his hand away from my grasp and brought them both up to my face. "Can I be honest?"
I barely nodded. "I was actually going to show up at your door and surprise you with flowers tomorrow, take you on this great date out for dinner, maybe see a movie, and then, after the date, ask you if you would be my girlfriend."
I felt like I was at a loss for words. Why was he telling me this when he could have waited to actually do it tomorrow?
"But, I don't want my girl going to bed worrying, so," he reached down took my hands in his, "Amelia Ingridson, will you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?"
My heart leapt inside of me. I grinned from ear-to-ear, quickly bobbing my head up and down like an idiot, "yes!"
He brought his hands up to my face again and embraced me in a kiss.

I'm sure I was glowing with cheer as I strolled through the door, and grandpa probably noticed my almost nonstop smiling, but I didn't care.
I was happy. I was so very happy.
But I still had to find a way to tell grandpa what happened without looking like a sappy, love-stricken, teenage hopeful romantic.

What is this? Another update? Uploaded on the same day as the previous update? Crazy, right?
So what did you think about the chapter? I'm not the best at writing romance scenes, I know.
How do you think her grandpa will react to her breaking the news that she now has a boyfriend? Do you think she'll even have the guts to tell him?
Do you think her friends will find out?
How Do you think their upcoming date will go?
Do you think that their (kind of) first gig will go alright?
Thanks to my bestie for giving me tips and ideas! That's mah girl! And my look-out bud for typos.
