Simon's POV
I couldn't contain my excitement. Why would I think that JJ was not the one for me? He is the only one that I could ever think of marrying.
Once again, I used the stairs. The elevator doors rattled open a bit and I wasn't taking that chance.
JJ's door was open, but I decided to knock, using logic from what had happened previously.
It was time.
I heard his surprisingly cheery voice ring out to come in. I did, and what I saw brought a small cheeky smile to my face.
JJ had dimmed all of the lights. Candles were lit. I doubt it was Jide that had done that, since he was not to be trusted with fire. There was a table in the center of the main room. It was covered in pictures of me and him. Some from years ago when we first met, playing with the football in my backyard, one my mom took, a sneaky secretive snap in the doorframe of my room. JJ and I were screaming at each other and the tele. Then there were a few from our 6th form days, including graduation. We all looked so happy. Finally, I saw a picture of me and him hugging in the middle of a busy London street. I don't know when this one was taken, but it may have been the best one there.
JJ appeared from around a corner.
"How did you know-" I started, but was interrupted.
"That you would come?" Jide chuckled. "I know you Simon."
This made me smile a whole lot more.
"Let's try this again. I don't know how an official boy-to-boy proposal is supposed to go, so I guess," he got on one knee and held out a small box. Inside, was a silver band. "Simon Edward Minter, I love you to hell and back. Will you marry me?"
I blinked back a few tears.
"Yes, Olajide. I'll marry you."
