We stared for a moment. I couldn't decide if he was happy I was there or not. Em looked between us nervously.
"SIMON MINTER!" He bellowed, and gave me a giant hug. I was engulfed by him, even though he was a near head shorter than me.
Hearing his voice made me excited. I perked up immediately.
"Come in, mate! We need to catch up! How did Em even find you?"
"Well... she found my dorm window and pulled me out through it," I say. Em giggled, "she's a bit tipsy."
"A bit?" He chuckled, "I guess you aren't going anywhere tonight, hon." Then, he gave her a little peck on the lips.
I pressed my lips together tightly. Things had definitely changed since I left. Ethan invited Em over once for a FIFA game. Nothing came of it. I remember Ethan being really upset.
"I don't think I can stay. Tomorrow I have some classes," I mumbled, starting to turn around.
"But you hate them!" Em groaned.
"No, I couldn't intrude," I started politely.
"Where's fun Simon from Upper Sixth?" Ethan laughed, "don't be that shy fellow I first met. What's the point of Uni anyways? We have a guest room. Em can sleep with me."
"Naturally," Em sighed, melting into Ethan's arms.
"Well.... I guess it's kind of late," I shrug. He ushers me in, pleased.
"You awake enough to tell me about life since Secondary?"
I nod, suppressing a yawn.
"I went to Edinburgh for a semester, but decided I wanted to me closer to home, and transferred to Imperial. I guess no one there has much of a liking for me. Even Nathan, my roommate, hates me. I missed you guys. Should've kept in contact, shouldn't we have?"
Ethan nodded enthusiastically, "what about football? Did you get anywhere with that?"
I shook my head sadly, "I guess I'm not as good as people think."
Ethan looked shocked, "What? You're amazing! You scored... let's see... 99 out of 100 of our goals every season."
I laughed, "there's no way we scored 100 goals in any year."
"Maybe not. But still! You know... I have a YouTube channel... Behzinga," I didn't say anything, "I do football stuff sometimes. You want to do something with me? Definitely boost my views," he said jokingly.
"Oh really? Then I must help you!" I grinned.
Finally, I was back where I belonged.
