A Ludicrous Idea
I decided to get a ride with Ethan and Miranda since visiting hours would've ended soon. Ethan suggested we drop Miranda first then we could hang out with the rest of the guys. On our way to her house, I barely spoke. I was curious as to why they were down in the autopsy room. Miranda sent a text to Benny, Liam and Nick a few minutes ago but none of them replied.
"Do you guys want to come in for a drink or something?" Miranda asked and that's when I finally realized, the car came to a stop in front of her house. Ethan looked at me through the rear-view mirror as I shrugged in response.
"Sure." Ethan said then unlocked the car. I stepped out of the BMW and breathed in the fresh air. I didn't like the hospital smell so any fragrance would've satisfied me. Miranda's home was a double story, similar to Lana's except smaller. I wondered why she stayed in such a big house with her mother. I hardly knew Miranda but when we hung out with Marcus, he said she barely knew her father.
We entered the quiet home yet the place made the hairs on the back of my neck rise. I hadn't been to Miranda's house before so it must've been the new atmosphere. As we walked through the house, the sounds of heels clicking against the floorboards erupted through the room.
"Miranda your gown arrived this morning." Someone announced and I glanced up to see an older version of Miranda walk in, except she had darker blonde hair and a curvier figure.
"Thanks mom." Miranda said as she took the parcel from her mother. Ethan and I mumbled a hello in which her mother nodded but kept her gaze on us. She rested her hand on her hip then eyed us up and down.
"From the looks of you two, seems as if things haven't change back at the hospital."
"I guess, Lana's just in ICU." Ethan said with a shrug. "Nothing we can say or do."
"You can get ready for your graduation that's in a few days." Miranda's mother said then turned to her daughter. "I have a cute outfit for that gown if you want?"
"It's weird...Lana and I wanted to graduate in similar outfits." Miranda mumbled as she took the blue graduation gown that we'd all wear soon. "Now we won't even graduate together."
Miranda ran her thumb across the material and let out a sigh. Ethan approached her and tried to comfort her when he rested his hand on her shoulder. I turned to Miranda's mother who stared at the gown. I gazed at it too as I remembered the times Lana spoke about graduation.
"It's weird cause out of all of us, she wanted to graduate the most." Ethan spoke after a while as I clenched my fists.
"Then do it for her," Miranda's mother spoke up as we turned to her. "Graduate for not only yourselves but for Lana's absence."
