It's All About Serendipity

Lana

What a way to end my birthday. Benny and I barely spoke that night when my parents took us to dinner, but I had to force a smile for them. I'd laugh and smile, but inside I screamed for help, the voices on the vinyl...our voices played in my head over and over again. It came to show that even with the security guards, me being inside most of the time and the fact that everyone thought James killed off Christo just like he did with his other men, James was still in charge. He always had control over our lives and found ways to torment us.

"We wouldn't have been in this situation if it weren't for you!" I recognized the voice as Nick and slightly raised my gaze to see his reaction. At first, he creased his brows, but once he heard himself, he just stared at the vinyl as it continued. "We were in the alley, staring at the dead body. Then we heard someone coming so we hid. Yet this idiot decided to hide next to the freaking body!"

"He was behind the dumpster, best hiding place." I glanced at Liam who towered over the record player with a grin. I wondered what went on in his mind if he found this whole situation amusing and exhilarating.

Benny stopped it before it played another conversation we had about Christo and looked at Nick and Liam. The day after my birthday, I stayed in my room the entire day which was normal to everyone, but Benny understood. He came over, and we didn't even look at the record player, we mostly sat in silence and watched movies. Today, we called over Nick and Liam and played the vinyl for them.

"This is just crazy." Nick broke the silence as Benny rolled his eyes.

"To use the word 'crazy' right now is an understatement dude."

"But clever," Liam said as he picked up the cover which the vinyl was in. It wasn't an ordinary cover that showed the album cover of the artist it was just plain black. I watched as Liam carefully picked up the needle and quickly put the vinyl back in the sleeve then the cover. He walked to my bookshelf and forced it between the rest of my vinyl's.

"Clever how?" Nick asked as Liam flopped down beside me on the bed.

"Well, James must've known that he wouldn't get anything to Lana in her own house so he must've put the vinyl in Ethan's house. In a separate room with all the presents."

"Instead of us finding the evidence he brought it to us," Benny whispered as my brows rose
