"I heard about her, she's bad for you."
"Like you were any better."
"She's going to ruin you."
"Then let her."

My mind ached by the time we got in the car and drove home. Dad arrived along with other police vehicles and they questioned us before we left. This happened after the employees at the grocery store got the entrance clear of snow. Levi mentioned using his Zippo to speed up the process yet Blake said it'd be a slippery mess.
I gazed into the dark chilly night. That sign drilled into my head forever. The freshly graffiti window, frost inching closer to make it permanent. I wish I saw who it was. Yet I don't think I'd be able to sleep tonight if I saw the last person I'd ever want to see again.
"At least we got the groceries, right?" Levi spoke up yet I barely heard what he said next because my phone tinged. My hand gripped the phone when I saw a message from Benny.
Benny: We need to talk. Now.
With a sigh, I dropped my phone in my lap and turned to the window again. No use anyway because my reflection stared back at me since there wasn't a single star visible in the night. My phone buzzed again and this time I slowly peeked.
Benny: Lana I know you're there. Don't leave me on read because then I'll call. This sh*t is serious.
I didn't realize my hands were shaking until I picked up my phone. My thumbs hardly secure on the keypad to type: I know.
Benny: I've told Nick and Liam already. We're not discussing anything without you.
"What does that sign mean?"
"I think I've seen it before, have you?"
Lana: I can't right now, okay? That shit scared me. I just need to breathe for a sec.
Benny: All right. Tomorrow at noon, Liam's apartment. Should I pick you up?
Lana: No thanks. I'll be there.
I didn't bother to look at the next message Benny sent. When I raised my head, I felt a pair of eyes on me. Levi gave me a sideways glance and when I looked over my shoulder, Blake tilted his head.
"What?"
"Blake asked you a question... like five minutes ago." Levi eyed my phone. "Who're you talking to?"
"No one." I turned to Blake with my brows raised.
"I asked if you've seen that sign before, looks sorta familiar." Blake leaned forward as if I'd whisper to him because he knew, I knew and we both knew what he's talking about.
