I wake up in the morning
Not feeling the day, not even feeling life in general
"Why should I get up today?"
"Because I love you," you say.
As I drag my feet along the floor
Only wanting to go home
"Why should I continue?"
"Because I love you," you say.
Life would be so much easier if I just got into a terrible accident
"Drive safe."
"Why should I?"
"Because I love you," you say.
As the world falls apart around me
And nothing seems to my way
"Why should I continue living?"
"Because I love you," you say.
It's always been you
Keeping me going through
Never letting me give up
"Because I love you," you say.
When the struggles of the world
Feel heavy on my shoulders
You take some of my pain and put it onto your back
"Because I love you," you say.
When I push you away
You come back once more
Never letting me shut the door
"Because I love you," you say.
You stick around when I don't deserve it
You put up with so much of my crap
"Why do you stay?"
"Because I love you," you say.
When I don't know what to do
When I don't know where to go
When I can't find my purpose to carry on
"Because I love you," you say.
And when you feel you aren't enough
To keep me going each day
You ask, "Why do you stay on this broken world?"
"Because I love you," I say.
And that is that, and nothing more
Just you and I
Taking on the world.

I wrote this poem for a scholarship I applied to and I thought I'd share it with you guys. At first the inspiration was what Olivia always says to me before I leave which is "drive safe." Then the inspiration shifted over to Alyssa and all the things she does that keep me going. Most ideas came from her, but some did also come most Olivia.
