It was 2nd period English I sat in one of the front row chairs since that was my assigned seat. We were doing an activity in one of the textbooks about getting to know one another. What a coincidence. But what sucks is that we have to partner up. I don't know anyone else besides Maxell but she already partnered up with a girl with dyed dark red hair. Since I was the only one without a partner the teacher Ms.Arena partnered me up with someone who also doesn't have one, a dark skinned girl with a colorful outfit. I sat next to her and quietly reopened my textbook. It was awkward at first since we were the only pairs who haven't started discussing so I thought I might make a daring move and ask.

"So.....what's your name?" I asked her. "My name is Shrimpy." She said. "Shrimp?" I asked. She nodded. "Is that a nickname?" I asked her. "No not really." She replied. "Oh, that's a unique cute name." I said, "my name is Willow." I told her. "Nice to meet you Willow." She said. "Same to you Shrimpy." I told her. I looked at one of the questions. "So where are you from?" I asked her. "I'm from France." She said. "Really!?" I said shocked. "Yup, it a shocker alright." She said. "Why did you move here?" I asked her. "Because I'm adopted and I have family here and in France." She said. "Ohhhh that's interesting." I said. "I guess, what about you?" She asked. "I'm from Las Vegas." I told her. Shrimpy's face went into pure shock. "Your kidding right?" She asked. I shook my head no. "How the fuck you from Vegas! You don't look ghetto at all!" She said surprised. "I guess it makes me one of a kind." I said with a small smile. "Hell yea! I have an uncle that lives in Las Vegas and that place is ghetto as fuck!" She said. "Yea I won't argue with that." I said. "Why did you move?" She asked.

It took me a moment to get a proper answer since it was kind of personal. "I have my reasons.....besides my parents are divorced my mom lives in Las Vegas while my dad is here." I told her. "I see, family issues I bet." She said. "Yea you could say that." I told her. Actually the real reason was because I couldn't handle it over there. The bullying, harassment, the abuse and neglect. I couldn't handle all of it. But they don't need to know.....not yet at least. Me and Shrimpy continued talking and telling stories to one another.

For once, I'm not afraid of letting loose and telling people my experience. Telling them about myself without them judging me. We laughed, joked, and had a great time. This very moment was special. Shrimpy is a girl that is loud and hyper and full of surprises. Each and one of the people I keep encountering here gets more and more interesting. Along with me feeling less afraid of being myself and being seclusive. I'm slowly starting to make friends and make bonds. The teachers her are nice and good listeners.

It was now after school. I was riding the bus listening to my music. I was looking out of the window. I closed my eyes and thought about my past.

~Flash back~
The sounds of children laughing was everywhere.

"Freak!" "Freak !" "Freak!"

They all chanted the same name.

"You ungrateful child! Your father provided everything for you! You're a terrible daughter!? You're just like your mother!"

I can hear the yelling of my grandmother.

"You were mistake! You're parents should have hit the eject!"

The bullies shouted as if they were in front of my faces.

"You are not my daughter! Your the daughter of that abusive control-freak that is known as your father!"

The yelling of my mother can be heard.

I can feel that each word are like chains that are holding me down. I can feel the world crumbling below me. No one to call help for.....no one to save me......and no one to care.....

"Good for nothing child......"

~End of flashback~

I opened my eyes and noticed that I'm close to my stop. I pulled a wire signaling the driver to stop and gathered my stuff.

I wish this dreaded feeling will stop......
