An unforgivable Summer

It was officially summer. Well, school ended about a month ago I should say. Unfortunately before school ended I up in the wheelchair around May. I officially lost all feeling of my lower half and now my arms are starting to hurt. I could barely draw without having to take a break. Writing however is a challenge. It's hard to write for notes or problems on the broad. I'll be fine for one minute the next I can barely hold the damn pencil. My friends can see the pain in my eyes especially the teachers. The teachers started handing me hard copy of their notes or problem even though I told them not to but they insisted.

Anyways, let's move on. Rio invited some of us to his house to swim. Technically it's not an house it's more of an apartment. Harper and me decided to go, along with Maxell. She said she'll also bring her boyfriend named Derek. Which came to a shock to all of us when we found out. Another friend of ours is Fred or is commonly known as Robot. We knew him since Freshman year but he doesn't hang out with us that often in the group but he's a pretty chill guy he draws anime characters which is cool and I'm easily impressed at that since I can't draw human proportions.

Harper and Rio helped me get into the pool by having me sit on the edge of the deep side of the pool. I watched everyone splash each other, play Chicken Fight, race, held their breathe underwater, and tag. But was most interesting was seeing all the guys being boys by tackling each other.

Speaking of boys, a group of teenage boys came and walked through the gate. It grabbed the attention of me and all my friends. We didn't say anything since the pool is for everyone to enjoy. The boys walked past me some giving me flirty looks or smiles. Whatever it was something tells they were bad news. Harper swam towards me and held on to the edge to keep her afloat. "You okay? you seemed tense when those boys came in." She asked. "Yea I'm fine, it's just I got a weird vibe that's all." I shrugged off the weird feeling I have towards them. I know better to judge people on the spot without getting to know them.

A several minutes had passed and those teenage boys haven't bothered us. Everyone was playing another round of Marco Polo and Rio was it for like the third time. "Marco!" Rio called out "Polo!" I replied throwing him off track. "Willow stop doing that!?" He yelled. I giggled as he yelled back at me. He went back to calling out Marco waiting for someone to call out Polo. As I watch the intense game unfold one of the boys from the group came by and sat beside me.

"Hey." His deep voice spoke towards my direction. I ignore him watching my friends play. "I see, you're those quite mysterious girls that are hard to get." He continued to talk to me. I still ignore him but the awkward silence that displayed every once in awhile between me and him was quit intense. Him, always breaking the silence once in awhile but I never reply until now. "Why don't you join your friends in the pool?" He asked me. "I'm fine over here." I stated bluntly and coldly.

"Sheesh! I was just asking didn't mean to push any buttons." He said putting his hands up in defensive like. I stayed quite once again, the movement of the water moved my dead legs at will it sucks I can't kick the water around like I use to. I was ingrowth with my thoughts until I heard that annoying voice of his. "You really don't smile a lot do you. Come on why don't you smile?" He said leaning in close to me giving me a smile that I wanna slap it off his face. "Don't you have your own group of friends that you should be hanging out with?" I asked through gritted teeth. "Yea but their quit boring and such and I saw you by yourself and think you need company." He said. "Well.....I appreciate the thought but I enjoy being alone thanks." I was on the edge of telling him off.

"Nah, I bet your just being shy." He said getting closer to me. "No I am not now get away from me." I pushed him away from me. "Hey!" I heard familiar male voice called out, "get away from her!" I looked up and saw Derek, Rio and Fred out of the pool and standing next to me. "And who are you guys exactly you all can't be her boyfriend now." The guy sitting next me retorted. "No but we sure hell are her friends and if you don't leave in the next 3 seconds you best get ready for the beat down of your life from the three of us." Fred stated. "Make that five!" Harper called out correcting Fred as she and Maxell got out of the pool, "no one and I mean no one lays a hand on my best friend especially a sleazy douchebag like you that tries to get between her legs." Harper insulted the guy sitting next to me. "That's right!" Maxell agreed with her.
