I was at the park with my kids. My daughter Luna and my son Jason. They are twins and they sure are quite the trouble makers. I watched both of them play a nice game of tag with each other along with a few other kids. I was on the bench reading a magazine.
Nothing new or interesting just daily old routine with the kids in the park. I continue reading the magazine until a lady in a black zipper jacket and white t-shirt with black ripped skinny jeans and converse sat next to me. She wore a cap and had her hair up in a low ponytail. I couldn't see her face that well since the bill of the cap covered her face.
"Hey." The girl next to me spoke. "Uhh hi?" I replied back. Usually I don't conversant with people in the park. "Beautiful weather isn't it?" She asked looking up to the sky. "Yea it is." I spoke. The lady was kind of familiar her long dark raven hair and the way she sits. Not only that her presence seems fairly familiar. "Are any of those kids yours?" She asked me. "Uhhh Yea them two." I pointed them out and she looked to see. "I see they're quite cute." She spoke. I was starting to get creeped out by this lady I don't know what she could do to me or my kids mostly my kids. "Don't worry I'm not a creep I usually walk around the park once a week." She spoke. "That's good to hear." I said, "do you have any kids?" She took a moment of silence and finally spoke facing in the other direction. "Uhhh no I don't actually I was in an accident a long time ago and I'm actually trying to find my friends and my boyfriend as well." She spoke. "What kind of accident? If you don't mind me asking." I asked putting my magazine down. "It's complicated hard to explain kind of thing." She spoke. "I see." I turned my gaze towards my kids and see they were about to fight.
"Jason Luna! No fighting! How many times must I tell you this!" As I was yelling at my kids I didn't notice the mysterious lady slipped something in my bag. After that I went back to the lady. "Sorry they always cause trouble no matter what." I spoke letting out a stressful sigh. "What can we say double trouble am I right?" She smiled at me and for some reason I felt like I recognized that smile anywhere. She laughed and I laughed along with her. "I should be going I have work tomorrow and need to catch up on sleep." The girl stood up from the bench. "Okay, will I see you again?" I asked her. "Of course you will after all you are my bestie." She said.
What she said caught me off guard "What?" I questioned. "See ya! Harper...." I heard her say my name but I never caught her name. Matter in fact I don't think I even gave her my name. Who is she? How does she know my name?
-Later that Day-
I was on the counter crying. I found the enclosed envelope in my purse and inside was a bracelet that I gave her with a note attached to it.
Funny how old we've gotten. It's like yesterday we're just a group of teenagers messy around trying to get through life. But look where you are now. A family, loving husband, and especially a beautiful house. I remember the day you gave me this bracelet like it was yesterday Harper Annlee.
In the envelope there was a letter. What the letter spoke I couldn't believe it. Really. I just couldn't. "Mommy?" Jason was rubbing his eyes as if he just woke up, "Why are you crying?" He asked. "Nothing sweetie you shouldn't be up it's past your bedtime." I said wiping away tears. "But I'm thirsty." He spoke. "I'll get you a glass of water just go back to your bed." I said. He nodded his head and went back to his bed.
I grabbed a glass of water for Jason and gave it to him. Soon after I wrote a letter to my husband saying I'll be back by sometime tomorrow. With that I left my house and drove to the one place I dared to never step foot in again.
....could she really?.....
