Mackenzie's POV
I woke up. When I rolled over the alarm clock read 7:00 at night. The TV was still on. Sayge was in her bed on her phone.
"Hey Sayge what did I miss while I was asleep for a few hours?" She looked over at me from her bed and shut her phone off.
"We'll everybody returned back to the hotel from Party City without buying anything don't worry haha. Hayes didn't come home with us though. He ran off somewhere to be alone for a while. He told me to tell you that he wanted to talk to you if you were up for it."
For a second I kind of felt bad for Hayes but then I thought of what Vanessa had told me. Part of me wanted to hear his side of the story so I decided to go and look for Hayes while it was still light outside.
I grabbed my phone from my nightstand, slipped on a pair of moccasins, tool my hair out of my messy braid and put it up into a high ponytail. I shut off the bathroom light and went to go say goodbye to Sayge.
As I hugged her I said, "Thanks for telling me about Hayes. Oh an or not waking me up to. I probably would've been a beast haha!"
"Go find Hayes. Maybe it's a good thing, maybe it's not."
I smiled and walked out of the hotel room. Out in the hallway was Matt sitting on the ground. He looked lonely so I joined him.
"What's wrong?" I said looking into his eyes. "You look sad."
"Nah, I'm just thinking. Hey Hayes wants to talk to you. Is that where you were heading out to?" he said.
"Yeah. Do you happen to know where he disappeared to?"
Matt nodded and told me.
"He went out to the playground by the public beach."
"Thanks!" I nodded as I up to go get my penny board from my room.
Sayge opened the door when I knocked. I walked over to get my purple an blue penny board out of my bag. I found it and ran out the door skating down the hallway all the way to the elevator.
I was calmly skating down the sidewalk going to find Hayes. The soft breeze made the hair that was coming out of my ponytail lightly brush on my face.
The air felt good on me. As I got closer to the playground the smell of salt water filled my nose because I was by the public beach.
I had finally reached where Hayes was. He was sitting on a swing just staring off into space. The color of the sunset reflected onto his face. There were dried tear stains on his face.
I picked up my penny board an softly walked through the woodchips. "Hayes..." I began lightly tapping his shoulder. His face instantly lit up.
"I'm really glad that you decided to come and listen to my side of the story." Hayes said staring up in my eyes.
I carried my penny board over to the swing next to him and sat down on the swing. The penny board rested in my lap as he began speaking.
"Her name is Kate and we dated in 7th grade. We broke up and then I guess she just wandered out of my mind. But when she came back to meet me yesterday I felt sparks again. I felt really bad and the whole time we made out I thought of you. I pulled away and took her outside to tell her that I didn't want her and that I already had another girlfriend. That's when she threatened me that she would get me back. She left. That's it. But I love you, Mackenzie Smith. And nothing could ever make me change my mind. I'm sorry."
He then looked down and started playing with his thumbs.
"Hayes you shouldn't have made out with her when you knew you had me. But I believe you. Be lucky that I believe in second chances."
I put my penny board on the woodchips and ran over to where Hayes was slightly swinging back and forth. I sat on his lap and wrapped m arms around his neck and kissed him.
"Be mine again?" he said as we pulled apart for air.
"Of course Mr. Grier!"
We kissed again and I went to go get my penny board.
After I set it down on the pavement we both sat down on it pushing down the road away from the playground. I had my good arm wrapped around his waist and we flew down the hill.
Once we got to the hotel we decided to stay out for a bit longer since it was only 7:30 p.m.
Hayes took me to Chipoltle. I picked my penny board up off the ground and before we went in I wanted to take a selfie with Hayes to post.
He put an arm around my shoulders and kissed my cheek as I took the picture. It looked good so I went ahead and posted it.
"@hayes_instagram I love you bæ!"
There were some hate comments but mostly the fans were shipping us.
I really do hope that this time Hayes doesn't mess up our relationship again.
