*1 year later*

A tear rolled down Hayes face as he entered the quiet cemetery. It's been a year since she died.

A year since he last felt her kiss. Her touch. Heard her words. Felt her love.

Mackenzie was gone.

As Hayes approached the stone with a tiny angel atop it he crouched down. Her name was carved into the marble stone with her favorite saying.

I've only got forever but forever is fine.

The grass was flattened as Hayes sat down on it. He began to talk to Mackenzie's stone. As if it could talk back to him.

"It's been a year. I miss you so much. Life is harder without you. It's harder to stay strong now that you're gone. Everyone misses you and wishes you were still here. If I could bring you back right now then I would. I love you. No other girl will ever take your spot in my heart. Today I still wear the promise ring. You're wearing yours in the grave. I slipped it on your finger at your funereal."

A drizzle of rain began to come down. It was starting to rain.

Hayes got up and took one last long look at the stone before turning to leave the cemetery.

He began to walk away towards the big metal gates. It rained even harder. Drenching him and his clothes.

Hayes stopped at the gates, and looked over his shoulder. His tears were streaming down his face along with the rain.

"Rest in paradise my angel."

The walk home for Hayes was short and wet and cold. He was shivering by the time he entered the front door.

Puddles of water formed on the floor as the wet and cold Hayes walked into the house.

Nash saw him come in. "Bro, where were you? Me and mom were worried sick about you! We had thought you went missing!"

Nash went to the bathroom to get Hayes a towel. He threw it at him.

"Here dry off." Hayes unfolded the towel and began to squeeze out his hair. While he dabbed at his clothes, he told Nash what he was doing.

"I went to go visit Mackenzie. She's gone forever, Nash. A year. It seems like 10 years!" Hayes was holding back tears.

Nash looked down towards his hands. "I miss her to buddy. But just remember she's in paradise now. And if you're thinking of staying single forever than in sure she wants you to move on. Find someone else who makes you happy. That's what she would want."

Hayes took the towel and slung it over his shoulder. "I'm going upstairs to shower. Please just leave me be for now."

After Hayes had showered and changed for bed he went over to his closet, opening it.

There was a scrapbook laying in the corner. It was blanketed in a layer of dust.

A few pieces of the small gray particles flew around into a dust storm in the air as it was raised from the floor. The book hadn't been touched since after Mackenzie had died.

Mackenzie's mom gave it to Hayes after going through Mackenzie's room. It was on her desk when she found it.

This was the scrapbook that Hayes had given Mackenzie after breaking her heart and betraying her.

There was a piece of lined paper that fell out of the book and floated onto the floor.

Hayes picked it up and read it.

Dear whoever finds this book,

Hi there! This is a scrapbook of me and my boyfriend Hayes. I love him. Hopefully he loves me to and this isn't fake. But anyways, if you find this scrapbook and this letter than leave it alone. But if I have died then take this book and return it to Hayes for him to keep. I'm almost positive that I won't live longer than him. So just give him this book and letter. And to you Hayes, if I have passed on and you got this book I have a message for you. I'm currently watching over you and I'm still madly in love with you. Even though it hurts to see you with another girl, go find someone else who will love you like I did. Unconditionally. Who gives you more than 2 chances. Like me. Be safe and see you again one day in paradise! I believe that I'll see you once again and we'll be reunited forever. Be safe and take care of yourself!

Hayes had to close the book and put it back in the closet. It was all to much for him to handle right now.

And so Hayes lived on. He grew up and found another woman. He went off to college. Got married. Had kids. Got famous. Loved his life.

It all ended when he was 86. A bad case of brain cancer had chosen him as its next victim. Within a month of diagnosis Hayes was gone with the wind.

Finally reunited with Mackenzie, his first love. Forever they would be together.

If only he remembered her.....
